10. Actually, no, Stevens's retirement won't have a huge impact
As with Souter, Obama will appoint a replacement who'll replace the retiring Justice in the Supreme Court's four-member "liberal" (actually moderate) bloc.

Real change will come to the Court with the retirement of one of the four hard-core right-wingers (Alito, Roberts, Scalia, Thomas) or the less-committed right-winger Kennedy. Unfortunately, those five are younger and healthier than the others. It's not impossible that all five of them could still be in office on January 20, 2013. We may need to win again in 2012 before we can make a difference on the Court.

11. I keep wondering why they aren't impeachable?
Why Thomas ever got in is beyond me! I 100% believed Anita Hill. Then Scalia....separation of church and state? He is such an arrogant man (Scalia).....did you see him on 60 minutes?

12. They are impeachable
In 1805, Justice Samuel Chase was impeached by the House but the Senate didn't convict him, so he remained on the Supreme Court. See for more detail.

Some federal judges on lower courts have been removed from office through impeachment or have resigned because of the prospect of impeachment.

There is, however, a general consensus that "I wouldn't have appointed that clod if I were President" isn't enough basis for an impeachment. The composition of the Supreme Court isn't supposed to be completely changed whenever there's a change in control of Congress.

13. I would question that.....when I heard Scalia on 60 minutes...
I was really disgusted with the arrogance his attitude. Maybe if we combed through statements??? The way they are treated is like they are absolute monarchs....
