Michael Moore says Talk Shows Nervous about Booking Him
TORONTO -- Bring 'em on, Michael Moore says.

But as the Oscar-winning filmmaker prepares to leave the Toronto International Film Festival and head to Pittsburgh for the American premiere of his documentary, "Capitalism: A Love Story," he said talk shows are having a thorny time trying to book him.

"Some of the shows are nervous about me coming on and saying these things and then having to cut to commercial. It's not that they don't want me on but in order to make it work for them, they've got to try and find an opposing voice, and they're having a very hard time finding people who will go on with me to defend that the richest 1 percent have more financial wealth than the bottom 95 percent combined.

"It's an indefensible position, so I'm not going to actually be allowed on certain shows because they can't find anybody to take the opposing viewpoint. I welcome the debate, and I hope they are able to find somebody who would like to defend the system."

Wearing one of his trademark ball caps, Moore talked about believing in democracy and a moral code "that says those who are the have-nots should not be punished because they have less than us. A hand should be extended to them, and there should be an equitable distribution of that pie."

6. He could go on CNBC.
I'm sure they'd have no problem finding someone from the Heritage/Cato "Institutes" (read: corporate PR arms) who'll take that indefensible position.

The inherent problem is, this channel doesn't seem to get that "Pull yourselves up by your bootstraps if you aren't further in life. You're where you are because YOU DIDN'T WORK HARD enough!" isn't exactly a popular position with the unemployed (many of whom worked ridiculously hard, got advanced degrees, did everything they were told to do and got fired anyway), the overworked and underpaid. What's passed as "sound economic practice" to one group is condescending, patronizing and rather flaccid to the majority.

CNBC is more or less in perfect line with the Heritage/Cato mindset and so are a lot of their hypercapitalistic audience.

7. Oh, so us lefties have to have an "opposing voice"
but the wingnuts can always shovel their s**t completely unopposed and unrestrained in virtually any forum? The RW can't have it both ways. Either we need/want a "Fairness Doctrine" so that both sides get heard or we don't and if we don't, well, if talk shows can't find an "opposing voice" to take on somebody from our side, then tough!

9. Oprah had Moore on for his film "Sicko" and she had real whack jobs on to oppose
Moores point of view and all they did was talk in circles and pile the bullshit on thick.

I thought Oprah would really push Obama for Universal Health Care but she hasn't which is pathetic and disgusting.

So Moore may as well give up on getting any of the talk shows to have him on to discuss his "Capitalism" movie.

Those fucking networks are all about the money and they are NOT going to give Moore the opportunity to diss them, the greedy bastards that they are!

10. So let me get this straight..
The media who is owned by folks in the top 1% don't want to air a popular guy who is criticizing the top 1% and their wealth...

Duh...
