Stockton Radio Station Dumps Kanye West
Rapper Upstages Swift At VMA

UPDATED: 12:30 pm PDT September 14, 2009

STOCKTON, Calif. -- A Stockton radio station has stopped playing rapper Kanye West's music after the artist upstaged Taylor Swift during Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards.

DJ Joe Roberts, also known as Mojo, said KHOP 95.1 pulled West's songs until further notice on Monday after a backlash from listeners.

Roberts said the station has received hundreds of phone calls, e-mails and tweets about the incident.

Swift was on stage at Radio City Music Hall in New York receiving an award for best female video when West grabbed the microphone from her and protested Swift's selection.

13. No, I want to see his arrogant ass get booed off the stage!
My prediction: He's had time to see the reaction, and will accept his boos, then will try to make some sort of mealy-mouthed apology.

Jay was already going to have some great ratings tonight, this will drive them through the roof. I would bet that the folks at "CSI: Miami" are glad they have a re-run on tonight!

Graceless and embarassing.

4. Strange that he would go town hall like that.
Was he looking to get a date from Beyonce?

6. What. An. Asshole.
I don't know jack shit about Kanye West, Taylor Swift, or MTV Video Music Awards.

But I know low life, trashy behavior when I see it.

Here, you too can be disgusted:

8. A riot over Kanye is much more likely than a riot over healthcare
Welcome to the last days of the Empire.

11. You're right. We're a civilized society.
Strange then that Kanye would be such a wanker... even if it's over something as nothing as a pop music video...

14. Difference between dumping his music
and rioting.

I would think refusing to financially reward someone who you disagree with would be a perfectly acceptable tactic around here.

No violence, no one gets hurt, and you impact him the only way he cares about so perhaps he'll stop acting like a douche (I'm not optimistic on that one though).

18. No, we must riot.

On second thought, riot AND boycott. That is what he deserves for starters. And then hunt him down and kill him slowly and painfully and grind his bones into dust and shoot it into outer space so it no longer contaminates the earth. Kanye deserves to have the greatest wrath of all humanity descend on his head for all time for his daring to interrupt the awarding of an MTV award -- AN MTV AWARD!!! -- to a cute blond girl singer. There is no greater outrage than what Kanye has done.

16. or boycott...
or boycott... I'd prefer the latter as it's less messy and it's effects are nearer and dearer to the target.

9. All I know is, Ricky Martin said it best about Kanye:
“Kanye - kanye what an a****** dude.”

Kudos to the DJ for stopping playing Kanye's krap.

10. His antics have become tiresome.

He basically ruined a very special moment for a 19 year old girl. He's 32 and ought to know better. I'm sick of bad behavior, whether it be from Wilson, or Kanye, or the countless wannabee's on Reality TV or the teabaggers and townhall screamers. It's time to nip this shit.
