What are our true values? RFK and GDP (speech)
This was on Thom Hartmann today, and I guess I didn't cry enough during Teddy's funeral, because after crying through the audio of this speech, I had to go look it up.

It clearly shows where our values are, and how much maturing we need to do.

I feel the tragedy all over again.

3. I hope you will share this with younger people you know.
There is a whole generation who know nothing of what this family was about, and why they were so revered.

The thought in this speech might inspire a few....

4. Unfortunately ,Most are references to assassinations and Marilyn.
Thats why assholes like Limbaugh and O'Riely should be sued for being Misanthropes.

6. Well, if that's how you would talk to young people about the family, then you are part of the
problem.

I was asking you, in a polite way, to do something rather simple.

If you won't, then so be it.

Opportunity lost. :(

10. I could only go by your words., My request was simple, and I couldn't figure out why it got
such a negative reply.

Maybe you were too sparse with your words.

Thank you for sharing this with younger people.... I think it may open some eyes.

What could have been....

5. I couldn't bear to watch Teddy's funeral. It was just too
Much of a reminder of what we have lost.

Teddy is pretty much the last of the Old Guard of Real Dems.

Anyway, K & R for this great speech of RFK's.

7. RFK!! It's Almost UNBEARABLE To Listen To Him Again! HE WAS
my GREATEST HOPE when I became fully aware politically! Sure, WE ALL remember where we were with JFK, but had THIS MAN lived, I've ALWAYS wondered where we would be today!!

Any of you here at DU can smack him down about his personal life, but had you lived back then you might understand why I'm a LIBERAL, and WHY I've remained one all these many years!

What I see today is a travesty and so so many MISSED OPPORTUNITIES! You see, for those us who REALLY REMEMBER what it was like back then, it's so very hard to blend it with what we see today!

I fully realize that time marches on, but there are people such as all the Kennedy's who had so much, but were willing to GIVE BACK because of it! Who cared and looking back had a sense of what "needed" to be done even so long ago! But then came Ronnie Ray-Guns and for me that was when MOST of our down fall began!

What a punch in my gut this was... NOBODY could touch me so deeply as BOBBY!! I clearly remember the speech he gave the afternoon before he was shot, and I believed in my young optimistic heart back then that he was going to survive. I thought that if I "willed" it enough that he COULD DO IT! But I was mistaken, and America lost ANOTHER GREAT LEADER in such a short span of time! Right after MLK, it was almost too much to comprehend!

I have a daughter and son who have heard about what it was like back then from me, and I have ALWAYS tried to give them a sense of what it was like. My daughter has said many times that she wishes that she could have been part of "that time" violent as it was! I could go on and on about what we talk about and what she's done because of my political influence... still she will never be able to really KNOW!!

Thank you SOOOOO much for the clip, but once again... it breaks my heart!!

:kick:

22. As much as I appreciate the words, it's so painful to hear his voice.
Talking about what really matters in life... what a concept!

14. Heeded? I think we're addicted to money.
We give lip service to all the other stuff he talks about.

I wonder sometimes what he'd think about the current state of the nation. I can't believe he'd be very encouraged by it.

19. The problem is, we RECOGNIZE we're worse off with this, and we give it lip service.
But we don't seem to be able to come together enough to begin to CHANGE it.

We're part of the "everyone for himself" mindset. :(

for about 99 cents each.

Pretty cool!
