67. What's not to love?
I live for the picture threads, but tha'ss me. I go for the editorial cartoons first thing in the paper, then the funnies, then the mugshots. Go figure.

Sasha looks so much like Stanley. Has anyone else noticed this?

It is really despicable the way the Obamas, this great and beautiful presidential family, are being dehumanized and vilified by the fucking teabagger terrorists. It's disgusting and it makes me sick.

But, great photos by the way. They really made my day. And that Bo really makes me smile :)

I don't find the photos creepy. They're nice.

I find it irritating to have people opening their "wallets" to show me pictures of the presidential family like a grandma with a yard long picture strip of grandchildren.

I wish his positions on issues were as warm and happy as the family photo album.

56. And less than a century ago ...
Historians generally regard Woodrow Wilson as having been a white supremacist, though that was not uncommon for a man of his time and southern upbringing. He, like many white males of his time and before, thought whites to be superior to blacks and other races.

While at Princeton, Wilson turned away black applicants for admission, saying that their desire for education was "unwarranted" (Freund 2002). Later, as President of the United States, Wilson reintroduced official segregation in federal government offices for the first time since 1863. "His administration imposed full racial segregation in Washington and hounded from office considerable numbers of black federal employees" (Foner 1999). Wilson fired many black Republican office holders, but also appointed a few black Democrats. W.E.B. DuBois, a leader of the NAACP, campaigned for Wilson and in 1918 was offered an Army commission in charge of dealing with race relations. DuBois accepted but failed his Army physical and did not serve (Ellis 1992). When a delegation of blacks protested his discriminatory actions, Wilson told them that "segregation is not a humiliation but a benefit, and ought to be so regarded by you gentlemen." In 1914, he told the New York Times that "If the colored people made a mistake in voting for me, they ought to correct it."

Makes me so proud of my Southern "heritage". :eyes:

I have been wondering how Michelle's mother is doing. Does anyone know? I don't seem to see her much in the pictures. I like her too. I wish we saw more of her. I think it is so great to see several generations of a family living in a household. Europeans in the countryside live in an extended family. It is quite wonderful. So, if you have any pictures of the family all together, please post them.

71. In the first photo with the President although glad to see his daughter running to him his eyes tell
another story and you can see it in the pic where he is holding Sasha too. He looks more than tired he looks very serious in his eyes.....like a very heavy burden is on him...but the pic's of his daughters being so happy to see him and he greeting them lovingly is a very priceless scene.

75. Is it just my imagination
or has Malia gotten a lot taller in just the last eight months? I'm always amazed how fast kids grow.

78. Lovely!
To the rest of the world, he is the President of the United States, but to those two little girls, he is Daddy. Love the smiles on their faces. What a beautiful family we have in our White House!

82. This is nice and all, yet I can't help comparing it to the millions of kids waiting
For their military parents to come home. Instead, the President orders more troops into Afghanistan, and seems to be dragging feet in withdrawing our troops in Iraq.

President Obama, give all the kids in the country a welcome home moment, end the wars now and bring the troops home.
