Poll question: Should DU allow ads for Health Insurance Companies here?
I ran across an ad for Blue Cross Blue Shield in a video about medicare for all in DU's Political Video forum.
Here's the video. If you are logged into DU you won't see the ad. If you are not logged in, it appears magically.

I live in NC, and when not logged into DU, I see an ad at bottom of video screen for "nchealthreform.org"

Here's the screen shot of what I saw when I looked at the video here at DU
but without logging in with my DU handle.
***Look at bottom of video screen***

Above is screen shot of what I saw when not logged in.
That link, nchealthreform.org is a Blue Cross Blue Shield website

Perhaps DU does not know that insurance companies are advertising here.

I saw similar ads at other websites that were for nationalized health care.

1. If they want to waste their money here, more power to them
That's the same policy they follow over at TPM, where pro-Joe Wilson ads have been running this week. Now that's poor placement!

12. thank you
I hadn't thought of it that way.

Now when I saw the same ad at www.ProsperityAgenda.us it did offend me
and the Director said he'd get it removed because it really offended him.

BCBS is so damn sneaky hiding behind a name that pretends to be for our health care
and not their profits.

2. Sure, DU should be able to take their money. Why not?
They are advertising to a hostile market anyway.

6. On the sign in page there was I think a Google ad...
...to donate to Joe the Congressman (you know which one). I know it's because his name is up here four thousand times a day, but still, I thought it was funny.

10. You should write the admins if it bothers you.

I never view DU without being logged in. It seems that in the past, Skinner has said we can let him know if any adverts are "offensive". Something to that effect.

Personally, I agree with the above members. It's our their money. If it helps support DU, all the better.

11. Write Skinner. If he agrees with you, he'll make the change.
I don't feel strongly about ads with which I disagree. I'm oblivious to them.
