Gibbs blasts GOP critics of Obama czars
http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/59081-gibbs-blasts-gop-critics-of-white-house-czars

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs fired back at GOP critics of White House czars on Wednesday.

Gibbs said GOP “silence was deafening” on the issue of czars during former President George W. Bush's administration.

Republicans didn’t raise the issue, he said, when Sen. Bob Bennett (R-Utah) pushed a Y2K czar or when Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) called for a manufacturing czar.

“You've read Sen. Bennett was pushing for a Y2K czar that he didn't think was powerful enough,” Gibbs said. “You've seen Lamar Alexander call for a manufacturing czar."

He also brought up the name of Randall Tobias, a Bush administration deputy Secretary of State and “abstinence czar” who resigned after it was discovered his name was on a prostitution services call list.

“You know, somebody referred to in the Bush administration as the abstinence czar was on the D.C. madam's list,” Gibbs said. “Now, did that violate the Constitution or simply offend our sensibilities?”

1. The only thing that bothers me
is it seems to me Gibbs is always a little late with these counter punches. Maybe the admin has a good sense of timing and I am off there.

The republicans get one day older and two days dumber.

3. Why does every government agency have to be headed by a Czar?
Why not a variety of names? Use some originality, or at
least go back to what these guys were called before this
Czar thing became so in. It's like the media calling
every problem "Something Gate". Obama called for Change
and it's certainly time the government dropped this Czar
crap, & while we're at it we can have Gate take a hike too.
I just don't take either reference seriously anymore.

4. Drop the czar terminology, and the Homeland one as well
They are Republican terms and there is no place in america for either. We don't need "Homeland Security" we already have "National Security" along with National Defense, and National Guard. We do not have emperors or kings or czars in America so lose the terminology.. Everyone will be better off. Use their designated titles and end this stupidity.

9. Not meaning to nitpick, but . . .
If it's not one thing for the Republicans, it's most assuredly another. Today it's ersatz outrage over "czars"; tomorrow it's the same cheaply manufactured outrage over something else. What? Well, they haven't quite decided, but Republicans will assure us over and over again that some irrelevancy is poised to destroy the United States, knock the earth off its axis, and cause the baby Jesus to cry copious tears so as to flood the world.

I don't know what the best strategy would be, but I'd be in favor of ignoring these little temper tantrums, and if a reporter brings it up ("Why is the president naming all these unelected and unaccountable czars?"), I'd adopt my best withering stare and ask the reporter if that was really he wanted to ask or if he would like to pose a real question?

8. Now that's what I call "blasting"..
Gibbs is splaying the hypocritical gop..

“You know, somebody referred to in the Bush administration as the abstinence czar was on the D.C. madam's list,” Gibbs said. “Now, did that violate the Constitution or simply offend our sensibilities?”
