Questions for pro-legalization fans
If drugs were to become legal how would that work, exactly?

Where would the drugs come from? How would they be sold? How would drugs be kept out of the hands of minors? And so forth...

2. California has very liberal alcohol laws
Somehow I cannot see a future where hard drugs are sold on shelves in the grocery store.

Heroin, Cocaine, Morphine, LSD, Roofies, all of them

22. me too WOD is bullshit
and that means all drugs. Label them. Warn the heck out of the adult users. Provide treatment on demand paid for by taxes on the sale of dangerous drugs like alcohol, tobacco, cocaine, heroin and methadrine.

3. I imagine it would be like medical marijuana here in CA
You'd have stores that are licensed to sell, only adults
would be allowed to purchase products, tax would be paid.
I saw an interesting doco on CNBC over the weekend that
also profiled a grower from Northern California who said
he treats his weed like any other crop -- and he pays
HEALTH INSURANCE for his employees!

4. They would come from where ever they come from. They would be sold in pharmacies to any adult
They would be taxed but still cheaper than now because all the graft would be removed.

Tens of millions smoke pot now, and there's no test.

What's the sense in feeding gangs and organized crime billions over it?

29. You think you arent going to get blood taken?
If you get into an accident at work, they draw blood. If you get into an accidnt where someone was killed or not, WHETHER or not it is your fault, you will be tested. And it might be manslauter. Fun huh? And I know a thing or two. I am a patient.

11. as far as keeping drugs out of the hands of minors..
I started doing drugs at around age 13 and I NEVER had problems getting them illegally as a minor and I grew up in the BOONIES. I am sure if drugs became legal the minors would be able to find adults to buy the drugs for them. i used to have adults buy me alcohol when i was underage. minors will get the drugs either way, legal or illegal.

12. It would work like this...
Speaking for pot, as it's 90+% of illegal drugs...

It would be grown here by farmers.

It would be kept out of kids hands like Alcohol is. Right now it's far easier for a kid to get pot than beer, on any school campus even. Has been since I was a kid in the 70's and bought it at school.

It would be taxed and stamped, priced and taxed at a level that makes illegal distribution not worth the risk.

The largest benefit would be the hit to gangs and organized crime taking away their income. Not the income from taxes IMO.

16. But the question is - how *do you* keep it out of kids hands - anybody
can grow cannabis, albeit it's not that good outdoors, but yummy if grown indoors. I really don't see how to do that, but please don't tell me we'll start using "it's for the children" on this crap too, decriminalizing/legalizing cannabis. I too am for legalizing it all, everything, and then selling it at pharmacies. There was a socialist newsletter back in the 1980s "New Beginnings" and this was the topic - how to do legalize everything. Very interesting.

17. You don't. We've never been able to, and will never be able to.
Kids will smoke it of they want to, the only way to stop that is to convince them not to. It's called education.

How could we possibly stop fighting the unwinnable counter-productive drug war? We gotta do it. For the kids.

19. I'm in favor of Cannabis legalization and decriminalization for the rest
Cannabis cultivation and distribution is already well established in the MMJ states. It's very simple and straightforward. We don't even need commercial farms and processing.

I must admit I haven't thought much about the other drugs. I guess ideally they'd have to be controlled through prescription.

21. Same way it's done now, only better.
"Where would the drugs come from?"

Pot, opium, and heroin would come from people growing it in their backyards.

Coke would be imported from South America.

Meth would be produced in well equipped labs with safety features.

"How would they be sold?"

Craigslist.

"How would drugs be kept out of the hands of minors?"

By asking them not to do it. The same way they've done it in countries that have decriminalized drugs, and saw no increase in childhood use.

26. I would imagine it working the way legal drugs work now.
Licensed dispensers with restrictions for age and availability, even for "over the counter" medications, as well as more prescriptions required for medicinal drugs. Most drugs are produced by farming, so buy from the farmers, process, and sell through a drug store.
