Birther Orly Taitz Compares Self To Mandela, Wants Judge Tried For Treason

In an interview with TPM just now, Birther evangelist Orly Taitz fired back at Clay Land, the U.S. district court judge who tore apart Birtherism and threatened Taitz with sanctions in an order today, saying that "somebody should consider trying for treason and aiding and abetting this massive fraud known as Barack Hussein Obama."

"This is so outrageous what this judge did -- it goes in the face of law and order," said Taitz, reached at her office in Mission Viego, CA. "Not every judge is as corrupt as Judge Land. Some judges believe in the Constitution. And some judges believe in the rule of law."

And if Rhodes is open to continuing the fight, would Taitz go along?

"Oh absolutely, absolutely," she said. "Listen, Nelson Mandela stayed in prison for years in order to get to the truth and justice."

And Taitz brushed off the possibility of sanctions. "I'm not afraid of sanctions. Because I know this is not frivolous. i know this is extremely important -- the most important issue in this country today."

"Judge Land is a typical puppet of the regime -- just like in the Soviet Union," she said.

She has accused the following federal officials of treason and called for their indictments:
a)
All the justices of the Supreme Court,
b)
All the members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate,
c)
Attorney General Eric Holder, Solicitor General Elena Kagan, and other federal officers,

and, of course, President Obama himself.

She has personally confronted two Supreme Court justices, when they made public appearances. On both occasions, she improperly tried to engage them in improper ex parte discussion of her case before the Court.

At her confrontation with Chief Justice Roberts, she gave two suitcases full of documents to his security detail, later claiming that she had "filed" a Motion for Reconsideration in one case, and a new lawsuit -- though she paid no filing fee, failed to file with the clerk's office, and showed no proof of service on opposing counsel. When her documents were not placed on the Supreme Court docket, she accused Justice Roberts of further treason and demanded his resignation.

She has openly encouraged and advised these unlawful "Citizens Grand Juries". In Georgia on March 28, she "presented the case" before a "Citizens Grand Jury" of 25 people, who then issued an indictment of President Obama on charges of fraud. The "indictment" was then "served" on the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, and on the Georgia Attorney General, on Georgia's Speaker of the House, and and and on Georgia's President of the Senate.

MENTAL HEALTH.

I ghost wrote a brief for the 5th Circuit that was rather successful, as far as it went, which detailed the horrific impact of the mental health cuts started by the Reagan Admin, especially for the federal prison cystern. A significant population in the fed pens were guys that were truly nuts, and without proper medical and pharm treatment, many became either violent or suicidal. Even if they finished their sentences, out on the street, without any treatment or support, guess what happened.

OIly Tats should never ever be sanctioned. Rather, we should pity her and more, we should regret the destruction and funding cuts for mental health treatment that we used to have before Reagan began attacking the social side of the federal government.

Compared to the pain and suffering inflicted on Ms. Taitz for having her frivolous lawsuit summarily dismissed, 27 years at Robben Island is a walk in the park!

I mean...they are lifetime appointees and they can do just about anything to anyone and get away with it.

Frankly, after having practiced in feddie court ~~ not a lot but enough to get a clear picture ~~ I would not even go so far to think what she actually said. I swear ~~ some of them on the feddie bench can and do read minds.

If she disrupts a court proceeding in any way (if, in open court, she shouts "You lie!" at the judge, for example), then contempt would be appropriate. There's no reason, however, that judges should be insulated from out-of-court criticism, even intemperate, ill-founded, and grossly offensive criticism.

Invocation of California bar rules against her would be less oppressive than a contempt charge, but still troubling. I don't know if California requires that lawyers not bring the judicial system into disrepute, or something like that. The trouble with a proceeding against her on any such charge is that the judicial system often deserves to be brought into disrepute. Lawyers should be free to attack particular decisions, allege systemic flaws, etc., as long as other people are free to respond to them. In the words of Justice Brennan, let the debate be "uninhibited, robust, and wide-open".

There's also the practical consideration that our side is better off with Taitz freely spouting her nonsense (thereby making other opponents of Obama look bad by association). Shutting her up only turns her into a martyr and makes our side look bad.
