I feel so discombobulated, like I am looking at the world through the bottom

of a beer mug and that is something since I haven't had a drink since 1984.

This Sunday in the NYT, it was reported that for the first time, the average income for American households has declined. From 1998 to 2008, when adjusted for inflation, the median income dropped from $51,295 in 98 to $50,303 in 08.

This even though the rich have become richer than almost at any time since the infamous gilded age.

Sure we have more channels on cable and digital high definition TV but given the bad news, it sounds like the circus maximus in old Rome during the falling part of that historic Empire.

Everywhere you look you see signs of decline. Infrastructure is crumbling, dangerously so. Kids in Oklahoma can't even pass a simple citizen ship test. People are taking to the street to protest against their own best interests. And here in the 21st century only 39% of Americans believe in Evolution.

And now the absolutely false belief of those taking to the streets that they are fighting for their way of life is being played out like a tragic play. The deluded fools don't realize that what they are fighting against is their own best interests. Class warfare, they say, Obama is fighting class warfare.

They have it wrong.

Obama is fighting hard to preserve what is left of the middle class.

Sometimes I feel like King Arthur in Camelot when all was crashing down, he knows his dream is over and yet he sees hope in a boy that would be a knight. He convinces the boy to flee but remember that once stood a great country based on ideals...

Once there was a fleeting wisp of Glory....

Fifty years ago Camelot opened on Broadway. Another young handsome prince of a man became president who fought against the inertia of the right to give a glimmer of hope to the rest of us.

2. Beautifully said, Chris...
Just beautifully said...

And that clip brought the sting of tears to my eyes...

Thank you for reminding all of us of what is so essential, so important to our world...

A glimmer of hope!

3. Bread and Circuses.
Genetically modified with HFCS bread and an increasing number of cable channels with the quality thereof declining in reverse proportion to that growing number.

Bring back real bread and the Coliseum!

4. Self-destructive infighting, demonizing fellow citizens, guarding the gates with mercenaries...
As Yeats said:

THE SECOND COMING

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: a waste of desert sand;
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

5. Now that makes sense if..
You believe in god.. BUT.. the scientific explanation is something along the lines of.. When something is on the tipping point of great change then more and more things will begin to happen.. I.E. Before someone dies they have certain warning signs of incoming death with different health problems.. Global Warming with the sudden influx of storms and other fun disasters.. Oh and the fall of Empires... I mean just look at the warning signs getting more and more frequent? When I was born I felt privileged to have been born in the United States.. Now.. I'm saddened that we won't be the great nation I actually was taught to believe.. Fuck this country... We seem like we don't even want to be helped.. we bitch about the problems but are too lazy to get off of our asses and go to the streets.. Sorry for my ADD Rant.
