Hitler victim blames LaRouche sign for assault (Obama pic with mustache)
EDMONDS, Wash. -- It was just a sign featuring President Barack Obama with a Hitler mustache. But one man says what it represents got his blood boiling. And now the 70 year old is facing assault charges.

Supporters of Lyndon LaRouche often stand on sidewalks, passing out brochures outlining their beliefs. One of their latest campaigns involve their accusation against President Obama, whom they believe is trying to revive Adolf Hitler's genocide programs.

When Henry Gasparian saw the LaRouche supporters handing out pictures of the mustachioed president, his anger boiled over. "I asked them, 'Do you know who Hitler was?' Do you know why you're standing here?'" he said. But all he got was a casual rebuff, he said. To Gasparian, the Hitler reference is very real. The Armenian immigrant tears up whenever he thinks back to the life he lived under Hitler.

Gasparian watched his brother starve to death under the German occupation of the Soviet Union. And the image of Obama donning a Hitler mustache rushed him with a flood of emotional memories.

So Gasparian confronted two young men holding the signs. Then he tried to snatch their brochures. The two teenagers who were working the LaRouche stand called police, and Gasparian has been charged with assault.

1. LaRouchetown, where the Kool-Aid glows

Sounds like they're deliberately provoking gentle souls like Gasparian into doing something rash so they can call the cops on him and have a big ol' gut-laugh at his expense. Disgusting.

3. I've run into the LaRouchies
where I live in Everett, about 15 miles north of where this occurred. I too have asked them; didn't they think portraying the President as Hitler was over to line? They usually don't answer if you question why they are doing this. They only engage those who are interested in the crap they dispense.
This is free publicity for them. I hope Mr.G gets a savvy lawyer who can link the Hitler thing to his brother and get the charges dropped.....

10. When I told two young people that holding up that sign
would not further their cause, one of them said, " boo hoo". Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

That seems telling right there. They are not interested in ACTUALLY doing something for themselves and the country. They are interested in getting a reaction.

15. They thought you were the one crying.
You see. Making an unemotional logical point to them is redundant.

Who are these "young people" that the Larouchites attract? Ron Paul rejects? Non-libertarian young Republicans who were not on the benefiting end of the Bush years?

I wonder...

2. And the man should rightfully have charges either dismissed
or be fully acquitted as he was 100% justified in what he did.

16. Being provoked actually IS a defense against assault charges.
It was the defense used successfully by Buzz Aldrin when he punched one of those fake-moon-landing conspiracy theorists who was defaming him.

5. The problem with LaRouchers
LaRouche does have some worthwhile things to say, like how the USA needs to revive the manufacturing sector. However, when he and his followers try to equate President Obama with Hitler, it renders the rest of his points worthless.

6. When this all first started, I read an article about people with signs
that had LaRouche.com on the bottom of them who were agitating. I tried to bring this up before but noone appears to be interested in outing the LaRouche disruptors. Some of these LaRouchies are assumed by the press to be Rs, and by us too. This needs to be addressed in some fashion because these people are truly the fringe of the fringe.

14. I don't think anyone in the media has covered this in depth.
And I don't think many younger folks know much about this cult, if anything at all. I'd like to see someone ask Steele or Boehner or any R elected official if the Rs have an alliance with the LaRouchies. Either they own their rhetoric and tactics or they don't. Political rivalry aside, I don't want to see something escalate into violence because of provacateurs.

They don't actually know who Hitler was and how disgusting their comparison is.

9. Is there a way to help this gentleman?
How can we help him? He will need a good lawyer, and that costs money.
