It's really annoying the hell out of me.

I see posts with "limpballs" or "boner" injected into the OPs and I can't take the message seriously. It's just completely classless. There's some nicknames that are so vague and exclusive that I have no clue who the person actually is. That's just dumb.

I thought DU was better than this.

Although I do agree with you on this, I've found myself doing it from time to time... but usually with their party rather than individuals in it. Like "repukes" and stuff like that.

But I completely agree with your point. Any time I see something with KKKlinton or Hitlery in the opening sentence, I usually stop reading. It is a way to completely assure that you are preaching only to the choir.

Much better to draw people in with a reasonable style and points that most of us can agree with.

Many who have been here for several years, can recall with great clarity how each day of living under the Bush administration, was a day of psychic pain. These were people who recognized the monstrous nature of the modern-day GOP, and who were aware, each and every day, that these monsters, and their enablers in the mainstream media and on hate radio, were inflicting great damage to this country, damage which will be difficult -- at best -- to undo.

This experience was made much worse by being in a minority of the populace, during a time when criticizing Bushco just simply wasn't done. The left blogosphere was therefore populated early on by people with nowhere and nobody else to talk, and vent to.

And guess what? Sometimes places like this were the only place where some of us could come, not only to express fear and anger, but to share a laugh. Thus the blogosphere developed its own language, much of it built on bitter humor and involving insulting code names for the well-deserving GOP toadies who were in full-on rape-and-pillage mode.

Personally, I can't fathom anybody feeling apologetic about any of this.

I discovered DU sometime after the stolen election then had to live through Bush/Cheney in the WH and being told to "Get Over It". 9-11, the Iraq War and anyone who wanted to dissent being told to Shut the Fuck up. The Dems in Congress being complete wusses with most voting for the war. The Swiftboating of Kerry. Bush winning another 4 years. The Bush fuckup of Katrina that cost probably 1500+ their lives in New Orleans. Then the crap that has been unloaded on Obama since the primaries. And the other side now being the ones whining "They want their country back" and holding up signs with the vilest crap. Plus I now I pray for Obama's safety cause the RW from political figures to their whacko followers are stirring up a frenzy against Obama.

So, yes this is the place to vent against them.

There are places where I feel free to vent, and DU is one of them. If I want to call someone from the opposition an idiot, a Freeper, a thug, a moran or an imbecile I'm going to do it here. It keeps my head from exploding.

I'm sorry if you are sensitive to this, but I am sensitive to censorship and I don't intend to give in to it. There is no "better" or "worse" to it, it is simply a choice for self expression. DU is a very diverse place with lots of opinions and different ways to express them. I hope it stays that way. This is the same answer that I gave to the person who wanted to censor links to conservative web sites, someone who didn't want people to swear here and blamed all of our contentiousness on it, and a Freeper who wanted certain books banned from the schools. Censorship often starts small and grows over time. Who needs it? People are capable of choosing what they are going to read, hear and see. If there is something I don't like I avoid it. It is very simple.
