Bernie Sanders: We have the votes to pass a bill with the public option.
Not his exact words but most certainly what he was saying just a few minutes ago, on KO.

And, by the way, why are the card-carrying, capitalism-at-all-costs folks so god damned afraid of competition? The public option will not take down the HMOs any more than public schools have destroyed private education or the post office has put Fedex out of business.

2. And he said he'd like to allow each state to
offer single payer! I wonder if they could get that through the Senate.

3. That'll be a war. You can bet some corporate whore senator will try to strip the amendment out.
So the senators who want single-payer on a state level must keep a watch to see which senators are trying to strip out the relevant amendments that allow states to pass single-payer systems.

4. Yes, that will be a huge battle. But I think he realizes this
is the only way we'll ever get to single payer, state by state. Because we have corporate owned Senators and many ignorant citizens.

5. At least it's an idea that opens up another avenue toward single-payer.
It's where we have to end up, and sooner rather than later. Maybe a state-by-state approach would be more palatable to the Senate, and, if the idea passes into federal legislation, I think single-payer would eventually snowball to include every state.

But, however we get it, until we get it, for every single one of those five deaths per hour due to no health insurance, may each member of Congress who is against universal coverage sink one foot deeper into the boiling mud at the bottom of the fiery lake of hell, where he, or she, is surely destined to abide for eternity, anyway.

As Betty Bowers would say, praise.
