those who have been inciting hatred and fanning the flames of violence be held legally responsible (Politicians and Media persons)? I am thinking that the only reason that they are blaming Pelosi right now is that they plan/count on a violent attack and that they do not want to be held responsible in any way.

2. I suspect incitement to commit murder would be an exception. You ARE
aware that there are limits to free speech, as there SHOULD be in a civilized society, right?

9. But is it legal to incite hatred given the power of the airwaves against the symbol of our Country?

12. Ca you site the law that allows this? I thought attempts to overthrow Gov. and incite riots
and hate speech was illegal. When did these things become law other than when the Repugs said so.

15. In the US...
...inciting a riot is illegal and so is an attempt to overthrow the government.

However, hate speech is legal in the US, unlike in Canada and Europe.

A relevant Supreme Court case involves neo-Nazis being allowed to march in Skokie, Illinois in the 1970s:

8. True, but incitement has a very narrow definition
If I say kestrel91316 is bad, bad for America, bad for you, that doesn't mean I'm inciting anyone to violence. But say it long enough and often enough and someone may take it into their head to commit violence. You won't be able to prosecute anyone just for expressing dislike or disapproval though, the legal bar for incitement is set pretty high.

14. It's already illegal. If they were doing as you suggest, they could be arrested now.

16. It is ironic to see reporters on Fox, home of Beck who talked about poisoning Pelosi,
trying to shift blame for possible future violence on to her because she warned against the angry rhetoric they are spewing daily.
