Mississippi Lt. Gov. tells girls to be good abstinent Christians

Today is Constitution Day all across America, recognizing and celebrating the 222 year old document that defines our political system, rights and liberties.

Except, perhaps, in Mississippi.

Why? In May, the state of Mississippi threw a state-funded abstinence-only rally for students where they were told the value of not having sex until marriage (including a chant that went “Stop! Don’t touch me there! This is my no-no square!”). That in itself is legal, but not when the rally itself is from start to finish a blatant attempt at proselytizing students in Christianity.

The ACLU just brought forth a lawsuit against the state of Mississippi last week for violating the First Amendment, which prohibits the government from promoting one religion over another. Which elicited this mind-numbing quote from Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant (also in video below):

"I was so disappointed that the ACLU has decided that we don’t need to tell young women in the state of Mississippi about our faith; we don’t need to explain to them that abstinence, we believe, is related to our faithful Christianity beliefs."

Jesus wept.

Besides, Republicans don't pay hookers for sex, or to leave. They pay the pros to maintain a straight face and refrain from laughing.

A student used it in a script in my screenwriting class a few years back. In the context of the script, I thought it was clever and funny (perhaps the only redeeming value of the script). Apparently, he was every bit the hack I thought he was...

I swear, that college is the fornication capital of America. Everything you ever heard about Southern belles in sororities and party schools is absolutely true. I've also met more strippers fromo Mississippi than any other state in the union, too.

and I just told the sophomores how lucky they are that post 1960's with the advent of the pill sex can be recreation without procreation, and I have no worries in saying so because teaching about safe sex is the norm in France.

Yes, because every other religion except for Christianity teaches that sex before marriage is perfectly OK, right?

This is clearly an establishment of religion.

If I were a Mississippi teenager, these would be my main questions:

Where exactly is the 'no-no square'? Is it just in the genitals region or is it a huge rectangle that encompasses the breasts? If breasts are out of the square, does that mean breast touching is ok? And if boys don't have to say 'don't touch me there' does that mean that oral sex (only girl on boy of course, because boy on girl would involve touching her 'there') is perfectly acceptable?

In so many ways, the girls get screwed with this message. Not only are they denied any sexual satisfaction while having to perform oral sex on the Christian boys (since that is not ruled out by this message), but if they should fail to uphold this charge, and become pregnant, it is their fault alone.

Because, if they ever do decide to have their "no-no squares" accessed one day, I have a notion that the action will be quite acrobatic indeed.
