Jaycee Dugard case: Search tools find 'disturbance' in ground on Garrido property
ANTIOCH — Powerful underground searching tools found a "disturbance" in the same area of Phillip and Nancy Garrido's backyard where two cadaver dogs detected something a day earlier, authorities said Friday.

Bill Silva, an archaeologist with B.A. Silva Sensing Systems, said it is common to find anomalies such as stones, roots or pits in soil, but the fact a disturbance was found at the same spot that prompted a response by the dogs a day earlier warrants further investigation. The dogs are trained to detect human remains.

I cannot for the life of me understand how the POS Girrido was let go early on the rape case 50-year sentence.

This whole case is tearing me up ~~ those little girls who have been missing since the 1980s and Jaycee who was finally found.

1. Heartbreaking, isn't it?
I hope that if they were responsible for those other girls, the evidence is found.

It must be agonizing enough to have lost them without ever even knowing what happened to them. At least that way, their families would know. Yes, it would be horribly painful, and closure is highly overrated, but there is something to be said for knowing definitively at last, and for feeling that some sort of justice has been done, even if it can never bring them back.

2. I think your question as to how he made parole needs to be answered.
apparently, legislatures find it difficult to write laws categorizing sex crimes. Look at the guy who was labeled a sex offender for engaging in consensual oral sex with a 15 year old when he was 17. Sometimes it's hard to know what happened. Was it spousal rape or is she trying to get him put in jail? Sometimes the wrong person is convicted. Still, parole boards need to be able to pay more attention to why the person was convicted and not just use early release as a tool for keeping the prison calm.

3. I totally agree with the issues your raise in your reply.
Seems rather amazing that a 17 year old would get a life sentence for oral sex with his 15 year old gf, but a violent rapist like Garrido would get parole after serving a small potion of his sentence?

4. I don't call it amazing - I call it disgusting.

5. The other question that comes to mind is what happened to all those
lists of sexual offenders? The sheriff was notified that something strange was going on, and his deputy never got past the front door.

Maybe if the guy had been a black man driving a late model car......

7. ...late model car...
...in a white neighborhood.

I have a friend who is a personal trainer. He is black ~~ really dark skinned, late 40s, about 6'4" tall, and he works with a lot of the Hollywood set so he goes to nice, white neighborhoods in the L.A. area like Beverly Hills and Brentwood.

He calls me periodically and reports that again he has been stopped for a DWB ~~ Driving While Black. Last time he was driving a client's car ~~ a new Jag and running to pick her up for a work out. He nearly got arrested and once the LAPD contacted the celeb, all was OK. Sheesh...

So, yeah, I most certainly can understand what you are saying.
