Jane Hamsher on Rachel Maddow last night, 80% of Democrats
in Arkansas want Public Option yet Mike Ross and Blanche Lincoln, Representatives from that state, don't want it. Those two are among the largest recipients of Health Insurance Industry money and because of that are at complete odds with their constituents. An Ad has been created denouncing those two and firing a shot across the bow toward all "Democrats" that go against the majority of their constituents wishes. The Ad basically says either act like Democrats or we will find someone that will. I say it is about time. The Ad was aired on Rachel Maddow and will start airing in Arkansas shortly. I truly hope this is only the beginning of Progressives making a stand..

2. THis is true of the entire HC debate. The fact of the matter is,

The "Representatives" in DC are no longer that. They are corporate whores. And there is no way to change that back. The inevitable conclusion to this will be one of two things:

1. We will become a dictatorship/serf state, where the cabal of 200,000 or so lobbyists, corporatists, statists, propagandists, and their representatives in DC impose absolute rule over the other 310,000,000 of us, or

2. The 310,000,000 of us take our country back by force, with a large percentage of the 200,000 or so as casualties

It will be interesting to see which of these scenarios develops.

3. We can't change it?
Getting this information to the voters would change it. The question is, "How?"

5. The problem is that Ross and Lincoln need the support of some Republicans to get reelected

7. But they need the support of Democrats first and formost
Edited on Sat Sep-19-09 10:15 AM by Bandit
They are losing that support. If they want the support of Republicans, they certainly can run as one....

11. Lincoln's term expires in 2012
She has plenty of time to suck up to Republicans in other ways.

13. How about the ones who support the public option?
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/9/14/781862/-Arkansas-is-pro-public-option

Do you favor or oppose creating a government-administered health insurance option that anyone can purchase to compete with private insurance plans?
Favor Oppose Not Sure
All 55 38 7
Dem 81 14 5
Rep 22 71 7
Ind 56 34 10

Over one in five Republicans support the public option, which is more "bipartisanship" than you'll ever see in Congress. Meanwhile, the public option enjoys solid support among Democrats (obviously), and Independents. In addition, the public option is supported among all age groups (including 50-42 among those older than 60), and both among blacks (81-5) and whites (51-43).

I read that as exceptionally strong support by base (people reps should listen to first), strong support by independents and some support that's by Republicans, who could provide the crossover numbers you say they need.

16. The administration should callout these ' bought and paid for ' BLUE DOG/DINOS and frog march them
into a closed meeting to READ them the Democratic RIOT ACT and clearly explain the consequences of CASTING A VOTE AGAINST HEALTH CARE REFORM, a most important HISTORIC bill that could become the republican's last hurrah.
