Is the V.A. "bankrupt"?

As the discussion of health care was rapidly switched away from the policy and toward MONEY to the obvious benefit of the owners of our media and the people they serve we have heard repeatedly how "Medicare is broke!" (and Medicaid). Now another more honest way of characterizing it would be "underfunded" but that would include an assumption of the worth of having real health care. But I have yet to hear about how the Veteran's Administration run health care system is in any way in financial trouble.

Yes I understand that we do have to support those that have served. The VA expanded massively in the 90's*-anyone (including me) who has served can now opt for the VA-not just veterans of war or retirees- but funding seems to be no concern.

Just asking.

* Clinton signed it into law ;-)
