You say there won't be a public option or the chance for single payer anymore?

Great.

Too bad Republicans will still think you're socialist.

You defund ACORN?

That's nice.

Republicans will still think that ACORN are your evil henchmen though.

You say there is no item on the agenda to bring back the fairness doctrine?

Fine.

But Republicans still think that the FBI is going to bust into Rush Limbaugh's office and drag him out kicking and screaming.

At the end of the day, birthers and teabaggers will still be birthers and teabaggers, and the sooner that Democrats realize this, then the sooner we can end this sham we call "bipartisanship".

1. I really think most of them know that. It's a game-delaying ruse
Both sides get more $$ from lobbyists when there is are delays in changing anything. Notice how fast things get done (a-hem, Iraq War Resolution) when there is big money to be made by a big industry.

Reform status quo? Not so fast: hey bidder bidder bidder.

Program where some fat cat(s) stand to clear a bundle? Rush Rush.
Think Health Care Reform v No (Bush) Child Left Behind.

Yes, I AM that cynical. Been watching the game too damned long. x(

6. It Truly Is A Game...
A very byzantine one. And sadly, one few outside the archane halls of the beltway really understand.

I'm not as cynical as you...but not far behind. Yes, I see a lot of the posturing right now in both parties as trying to grab not only lobbyist money but from other donors as well. President Obama decission to let the legislative write the bill rather than give them one to ramrod through had also led to a lot of games as it's made "stars" of a lot of bit players.

I, too, have been watching the game a long time and still hold out hope there is going to be a bill with a public option once it's all said and done. The problem is the procedure and this Administration's attempt to appear both "bipartisan" and allowing a co-equal branch of government go through its motions. It opens the door for lots of grandstanding and self-interest. And there's more ahead. Be assured that there's gonna be horsetrading galore behind closed doors to make all these bills into one that gets signed.

I'm also convinced that this is only a first step in several needed to fix this problem. First, the accessibility and accountability of the system has to be fixed...public option and subsidies will go a long way in solving that problem...but others will remain. There's still a need to deal with big pharma, tort reform and then see how well these changes go. The bottom line is to start the change...it wasn't going to be easy and it sure isn't.

Cheers...

2. K/R Don't reach across the aisle with your remaining hand
DEMS giving away the store without a fight. Repukes will always vote against their own best interest.

But what is more amazing.. is how they got the Repukes to demonstrate in favor of the Insurance Companies? These peole are sick in the head.. I don't care if they self-destruct.. but I don't want to go with them.

5. Democrats are blocking reform
Yes Republicans are happy about it, but they aren't responsible for it. They have no power. Democrats are using Republicans for cover while the gravy train rolls on.
