The reason for the animosity for Obama
Conservatives have a strong dislike for 3 Democratic Presidents in particular:

John F. Kennedy
Bill Clinton
Barack Obama

What do these 3 men have in common aside from being Presidents from the Democratic Party?

The thing these men have in common is their exemplary ability to communicate.

Conservatives get their political power from being able to control the debate in this country.
They detest anyone who can communicate and shape public opinion better than they can.

When confronted with someone like this, they resort to character assassination to try and destroy that person.

Barack Obama does not have any character flaws so they have to be more ambiguous in how they attack him i.e. Obama associates with shady people.

If Harold Ford were president right now you would not see as much hatred because although he is black he does not have Obama's ability to communicate.

If you want further proof - see how the Republicans deal with Rachel Maddow. They always make references to her sexuality. She has the ability to influence public opinion so they resort to character assassination.

I don't know when people are going to figure this out. :(

1. They hate Jimmy Carter
more than Kennedy, IMO. You can say a lot of things about Jimmy Carter, but being a smooth communicator isn't one of them.

2. They do not hate Jimmy Carter personally.
He was not a successful president according to them, so they have that to use against him.

3. You forgot Franklin Delano Roosevelt - "the father of Communism"
Not to mention Lyndon Baines Johnson - "he freed the slaves"

4. RWers despise FDR

He kept a line of communication open between the White House and the public with his Fireside Chats

5. And why they idolize Ronald Reagan
"The Great Communicator" I doubt they will find another like him anytime soon.
