McCain was the keynote speaker at 2006 ACORN convention
http://www.bradblog.com/?p=6508

Golly, for a group that's committed so much "voter fraud" for so long (if you're gullible enough to believe the lies that RNC/FNC has been telling you) it's mighty strange that, as News One notes, "McCain attended an ACORN convention just two years ago."

The once-honorable Republican's campaign has even seen fit to produce a video smear ad, attempting to tar Obama with "associations" with ACORN, and alleging the group has committed "massive voter fraud" to boot! (They've yet to produce any actual evidence for that, unfortunately.)

But more than just attending the ACORN-sponsored February 2006 rally, ACORN confirms in a statement today that McCain was actually the keynote speaker!

So now, they wonder, why it is that McCain seems to have "lost that loving feeling"?

"It has deeply saddened us to see Senator McCain abandon his historic support for ACORN and our efforts to support the goals of low-income Americans. Maybe it is out of desperation that Senator McCain has forgotten that he was for ACORN before he was against ACORN," noted Bertha Lewis, Chief Organizer of ACORN.

"We expected Senator McCain to support our efforts to give voice to millions of Americans who have never participated in an election before," she continued. "We are surprised at his efforts to vilify an organization that, until recently, he saw as an ally."

2. I don't think this means he adopts foreign children to be used as sex slaves.
But we really should check into it.

(Yes, I know this is in REALLY bad taste, way too bad to even describe as a matter of taste. That's why it's so effective.)

3. All this proves is that McCain is an idiot.
ACORN is not anything close to an on-the-level organization, and I can't imagine any politician being dumb enough to support them. Sadly, plenty do, and leave it to McCain to be their keynote speaker. Can you imagine how bad we'd be off if that fuckstick had beaten Obama?

5. ACORN helps the poor with housing.
Every politician should support it.

6. A good stated purpose doesn't mean the organization

isn't dirty, and ACORN clearly is. I can't believe our tax dollars have supported those assholes, and I extend my middle finger to the seven senators who said we should still fund them. ACORN has had a long string of problems, it isn't just this one incident. I've never seen a legit organization in the news so often. If it walks like a ducks and quack likes a duck...

If Osama bin Laden, George Bush or the upper crust of Enron helped the poor with housing, by the way, that wouldn't make me like them, either.

8. A long string of bogus accusations against them,
...by people who don't want the poor to be registered to vote.

Every organization which hires thousands of people to help get people registered has some employees who write in Mickey Mouse.

ACORN supervisors call the cops on those employees. That results in convictions of former ACORN employees.

9. Right, like every one is bogus and all of them had to do with voter registration.
The vote to deny them funding was 83-7.

Note that the coward McCain abstained from the vote, BTW, which I think we can both agree is pretty funny

10. Yeah, and only one Senator voted against the Patriot Act.
So Bush was right about the Patriot Act (sarcasm).

11. You seriously see no problem with ACORN?
Wow. If that's the case, good for you. ACORN must be completely on the level, then. :eyes:

Nice chatting with you.

13. Did you just twist that entire thing?
That you've seen them on the news so often that they shouldn't ever have any funding?

WTF news stations are you watching? The ones I've seen have accused their canvassers of fraudulently filling out voter registration forms, and to those accusations ACORN officials kicked the registration forms out themselves and fired the canvassers. Jeez, when you have no money, sometimes you're gonna take chances and hope that mickey mouse in disneyland is gonna fly as a person for 8 dollars an hour. But the leadership did take action.

These newest tapes? I'm gonna sit back and watch the outcome. Something seems to be fishy in this "scoop".

Maybe you can point out where the entire organization is totally corrupt.

Not nice chatting with you.

12. "never seen a legit organization in the news so often"
well they were on Fox News for a long time and only just recently made it to other news programs. The only reason I think the ACORN story is being covered is because the pimp/ho "sting" was so stupid and so over-the-top that the fact that ANYONE would fall for such a ploy is newsworthy.

You have to always ask who stands to gain from taking down ACORN because i'm not naive enough to believe Glen Beck actually cares about this country or that he thinks a $5M a year organization is really that dangerous to our "way of life". Less poor people will be registered to vote if ACORN is defunded. Poor people tend to vote Democratic. Republicans in essence, gain votes when less likely Dem voters turn out. Republicans gain from this. That's all you really need to know.
