http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=6585606&mesg_id=6585606Armey's goal is to accomplish THROUGH THE COURTS what the corporatists have (so far) been unable to accomplish democratically:
Specifically, Armey wants to make Medicare NON-universal for elderly & open floodgates on physician NON-participation in Medicare.
If he achieves that, then Medicare will cease being universal for the elderly & will evolve into a mostly indigent program.
Then the Republicans can achieve what they have been falsely accusing Democrats of planning:
cut funding to Medicare, thus
rationing care for the indigent, while affluent elderly
contract privately with non-participating physicians.
The bottom line is another TWO examples of Republican PROJECTION - - in which they are
doing exactly the things they accuse Democrats of doing:
- - - JUDICIAL ACTIVISM
- - - attempting to cut Granny's medical care.
These people are serious and unrelenting. We would be foolish to underestimate them.
Their ultimate goal is no less than the PRIVATIZATION of both Medicare and Social Security.
This battle is being fought on multiple fronts - - in the courts, and in the committee rooms where corporatist politicians (not confined to one party) are crafting "reform".
We must remain eternally vigilant.
