Bennett, Robert F. - (R - UT) -- no way we beat a long term Republican seat in Utah -- Bennett is well regarded.
Bond, Christopher S. - (R - MO) -- open seat -- Kit Bond is not running. We have a good chance with Robin Carnahan, presumably running against Roy Blunt, former Majority Whip
Brownback, Sam - (R - KS) -- another open seat, but we haven't much of a chance in Kansas.
Bunning, Jim - (R - KY) -- another open seat. We would have had a better chance if Bunning were still running.
Burr, Richard - (R - NC) -- Burr's numbers have been slowly creeping up, but I think he's still below 50%.
Coburn, Tom - (R - OK) -- we have no chance to beat Coburn.
Crapo, Mike - (R - ID) -- we have no chance to beat Crapo.
DeMint, Jim - (R - SC) -- it's South Carolina. These are the people that elected Sanford and Joe Wilson.
Grassley, Chuck - (R - IA) -- this one is starting to get interesting. I wonder how the Iowans are reacting to Grassley's nonsense regarding healthcare.
Gregg, Judd - (R - NH) -- Judd Gregg is retiring, too. The state has turned deep blue, but this will be a case of the individuals running for the office.
Isakson, Johnny - (R - GA) -- Isakson is a turd, but a re-electable one in Georgia.
LeMieux, George S. - (R - FL) -- LeMieux is most likely a placeholder, but the Republicans will probably hold this one.
McCain, John - (R - AZ) -- McCain will be easily re-elected.
Murkowski, Lisa - (R - AK) -- Unless some serious dirt shows up (always a possibility in Alaska), Murkowski will hold on to the seat Daddy gave her.
Shelby, Richard C. - (R - AL) -- Shelby is not going anywhere.
Thune, John - (R - SD) -- I've read that Thune has higher aspirations, so he should be pulling out all the stops to be sure he has a big win.
Vitter, David - (R - LA) -- could be interesting, but most likely a win for Diaper Boy.
Voinovich, George V. - (R - OH) -- Voinovich is also retiring. The likely Republican nominee is Rob Portman, W's former budget director. A smart Democrat will run against him as the symbol of the economic disaster. No Democrat is leading at present.
You missed the open seat in Texas, too.
Kay Bailey Hutchison is running for Governor. The popular Democratic mayor of Houston, Bill White, is running and has a fair chance.
There are some vulnerable Democrats out there, too.
Dodd of Connecticut,
Reid of Nevada,
Spector of Pennsylvania (I'm still not used to thinking of Arlen as a D), and
Lincoln of Arkansas.
Other Democrats should be safe --
Dorgan of North Dakota,
Barbara Boxer of California,
Inoyue of Hawaii,
Feingold of Wisconsin,
Mikulski of Maryland,
Murray of Washington,
Bayh of Indiana,
Leahy of Vermont,
Wyden of Oregon, and
Schumer of New York.
Then there are the elections for appointed seats -- all on the D side,
Michael Bennett of Colorado, the seat now held by
Burris of Illinois, the seat now held by
Kaufmann of Delaware (is he running again or holding the seat for Beau Biden?), and
Kristen Gillibrand of New York (looks like the Democratic challengers are dropping out).
We've got 37 Senate elections in 2010. It's going to be an interesting year!
