Anyone who thought that "values voters" were still licking their wounds after the Republican Party received a drubbing at the polls might have found the atmosphere in Washington's plush Omni Shoreham Hotel rather surprising.

An audience of 2,000 Christian conservatives gathered to listen to their political and media icons, condemn the Obama administation's alleged socialist agenda and plot the downfall of the Democrats at the 2010 mid-term elections.

The President continues to reach out to very non-socialist ideals, and here are these wankers crucifying him as socialist. What the fuck is wrong with them? Can't they go back home and watch FOX?

Nor do they understand in the book of Acts that the idea appears to be embraced by the early church, so much so that two people who hoarded their resources and wouldn't share were struck dead.

They really need to find a Christian church that tells those quiet little parables their current ones won't.

They still get the "Jesus College folks" (Regent, Bob Jones, Patrick Henry) but this time they seem to get in on lower levels...despite more capable candidates being there for even those jobs.

There's one at his office. Fresh out of college doing an admin assistant position. My friend (who, like me, looks really whitebread republican but most assuredly is not) got out of him that he's waiting for sometihng to happen (dipshit return to power) so he can get promoted.

The guy scares the shit out of Jimmy (my friend), who like me has been working his way along life with little or no political assistance/shoozing. I hope that guy never gets his wish.

But they really think they are coming back to power...sure the Republicans may come back to power...but not until they cut these freaks loose.

They pay lip service to the founder of the religion and not much else. Portraying the Jesus from the New Testament as some sort of free market, militaristic, strong adherence to the letter of biblical law type of guy is the antithesis of what he is in the New Testament.

These people worship the morality of Pontius Pilate and Caiphas not Jesus of Nazareth.

I give them a "D".

Bottom line they will not succeed in imposing their theocratic ideas on others.
These morons are against government intervention but want to impose their bullshit on everyone else.

All the noise and hate rhetoric sure feels good to the "base", but it won't win elections. 2,000 activists acting like crazed idiots doesn't mean a "resurgence".

Reality still shows this party barely represents 1/3rd of the population. Yes, President Obama's poll numbers are down, the the GOOPs haven't risen. If anything, I see a real low turnout next year as many are tired of both parties and will stay home...including many of the "moderates" and "independents" they think will be their saviors.

We're still a year out from the mid-terms...and this is the best the wingnuts have or will get it. American voters still don't trust them and the more antics they pull the more desperate and out of touch they look.

The wind is still at our backs...but Democrats cannot get complacent. Time to start planning for next year (I know many already are)...let the rushpublicans continue to act like pechulant children...they're headed to another tough election next year. Democrats may not gain many or any seats, but the GOOP won't be in much better shape. I see them still headed for a full implosion and schism...the 2010 elections may just do the trick.
