Direct TV just took off the Versus Channel because they think it is a "infomercial" channel - really?

http://versus1.viewerlink.tv /

What the Hell is Fox News but a "infomercial" channel for the Repub's Big Donors and their Billionaire owner?

This Bill Moyers report says it ALL from 2007!

1. I thought they took it off because of a disagreement with Comcast?

Some freeper somewhere I am sure says "Obama said he is a Muslim". I don't put much faith in it without a press release from whitehouse.

This is greed by comcast and has nothing to do with infomercials. Comcast demanded terms that no other provider on the planet would agree to. They simply wanted to extract even more money from DirecTV. If you are upset contact Comcast.

9. No
News Corp sold their ownership shares to Liberty Media a few years ago. Even when News Corp had partial ownership, it was never the majority.

Murdoch is like many of the reich wing - they're only concerned about profit, and if it's appealing to the worst of society, then $o be it!

14. Here is a great article from back in 2003 when Murdoch bought Direct TV.....
Rupert Murdoch's Digital Death Star
By Jeffrey Chester, AlterNet. Posted May 20, 2003.

http://www.alternet.org/story/15949/

Murdoch's plans to buy DirecTV will open the door to a not-so-distant future when our television set will become an outpost of the Murdoch empire.

Even as Michael Powell and the GOP sweep away long-standing media ownership safeguards, media mogul Rupert Murdoch is mobilizing to further expand his TV empire beyond broadcast and cable. His plans to acquire the key direct broadcast satellite service (DBS) – DirecTV – will allow Murdoch to advance his conservative political agenda, creating new channels and services that disseminate the rightwing ideology now espoused by Fox News.

15. Direct TV removed Versus due to overpricing by comcast.
Edited on Sun Sep-20-09 05:44 PM by Statistical
If you are upset blame comcast.

Comcast terms where just highway robbbery.
This is simply a case of pure greed by Comcast.

It has nothing to do with infomercials on DirectTV. Hell DirectTV carries many channels that are essentially infomercials.
