Linseed Graham ridicules our Pres on MTP - "He's been on everything but the Food Channel"
Edited on Sun Sep-20-09 09:12 AM by Phoebe Loosinhouse
First he says that he's "happy" that the President has "changed his tone" from his address to Congress which Lindsey found "combative".

In the next breath he ridicules and denigrates our President for attempting to take the message about healthcare directly to the American people by saying - "He's been on everything but the food channel" to "sell what America's not buying".

I am just beside myself with contempt for these small, small, men - he and Boner. When pressed by Gregory for what they DO offer in terms of reform we get the same old regurgitated Republican tripe:

free market competition, associations for small business, policies available nationally, and tort reform. Like those policies would save the stinking carcass of American healthcare!!! I am beyond disgusted. Oh, they also pronounced health/insurance reform DEAD.

******************************************************************************************************************
edit - I decided I shouldn't use a perjorative term to describe Senator Graham in the title.

1. Loved the Obama smackdown:Mr. President, the republicans say they are winning the health care debate
Obama: Yes, and they also said they were winning the election.

3. I think it's an outrage
an outrage that he hasn't been on the Food Network. I could see The Obamas doing a nice segment or program on nutrition. Michelle promotes healthy eating with her garden at the WH so why not? Maybe not on Paula Deen though. Paula Deen would take those beautiful veggies and drown them in butter. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, btw, just not exactly healthy eating for every day.

8. OMG, your post came out of my head. Paula was the first one I thought of.
I'd like to see him with that wonderful nerdy guy (sorry cannot think of his name) who is absolutely wonderful. He explains the chemistry and science of food. Anyway, he and the Prez would be awesome. I love, love the Food Network. Michelle and Giada, both love their veggies....

18. GMTA
Michelle and Rachel Ray could do something with the 30 minutes meal thing for busy moms and healthy eating.

I think Alton Brown would be great! I could see Obama in one of his skits kind of like he did when he appeared on the big screen for Colbert in Iraq.

4. Let me know when he IS on the Food Channel.
I'm sure it would make for good TV. Even if it's him throwing pies at Bourdain.

5. Graham was the one
who came up with the idea for that dumb "He's the WORLD'S BIGGEST CELEBRITY!!!" ad for McCain. I love it how the press and Repubs get so pissed that Obama is trying to communicate with the public. If America is not buying what Obama's selling, why do they get so frenzied when he tries?

6. Ummmm......
Unfortunately, any real hope for meaningful healthcare reform is dead IMHO. Dems control the Presidency and both houses of Congress and have only themselves to blame. There are a million or more excuses or explanations to be made. But in the end all that matters is that Dems will not deliver the goods.

Like millions I am underinsured/uninsured. I do not have the luxury of patiently waiting another couple of decades for reform to be reconsidered. Meaningful healthcare reform is my line in the sand. If Dems do not deliver then I'm done with 'em. There is absolutely no fucking reason for me to advance the interests of politicians and political parties who are unable/unwilling to protect and advance my own needs and interests.

7. PSA: Republicans need help locating the off button on the remote chance anyone cares what they think
Let's summarize:

Afghanistan- didn't conclude it, didn't get Bin Laden, didn't help the country stop the Taliban

Iraq- No WMD, fraud, massive amount of money to mercenaries

Economy- Led us to the very brink of worldwide depression

Diplomacy- Increased violence in the ME, no effect on trade agreements that are making Americans broke

Sorry.......we tried to listen to you Republicans, but you were all in support of townhall meetings for the special interests that excluded the rest of us.

Shit-for-Brains and Cheneyburton could only get time on FauxNoise.

What does that tell you, Graham? And why is it so difficult for you to understand?

12. I avoid Sunday-morning talking-head shows like the plague
but I usually know who's appearing where when I visit DU on Sunday mornings. I recall that Lindsey Graham was quite the media darling not many months ago, appearing hither & yon as the muse struck. Guess the pot is still calling the kettle black.

13. Graham is a liar...
When on MTP Lindsey Graham refers to Afghanistan as "the good war", the reasons he offers have to do with fighting our real enemies. He's a liar. Here's the real reason he is for the war in Afghanistan. I wish someone in Mainstream Media would run with this:

U.S. INTERESTS IN THE CENTRAL ASIAN REPUBLICS

Graham was on this committee. Here are just a couple of snippets from this 1998 government document:

COMMITTEE ON INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

Mr. MARESCA (Unocal Corporation). Congressman, I am not here to defend the Taliban. That is not my role. We are a company that is trying to build a pipeline across this country.

Mr. ROHRABACHER (R - CA). I sympathize with that. By the way, you are right. All factions agree that the pipeline will be something that's good. But let me warn you that if the pipeline is constructed before there is a government that is acceptable at a general level to the population of Afghanistan and not just to international, other international entities, other governments, that your pipeline will be blown up. There is no doubt about that. I have been in and out of Afghanistan for 15 years. These are very brave, courageous people. If they think they are being stepped on, just like the Soviets found out, they are going to kick somebody back. They are not going to lay down and let somebody put the boot in their face. If the government that is receiving the funds that you are talking about is a government that is not accepted by a large number of people in Afghanistan, there will continue to be problems. You say you have had a positive relationship with all the factions. That is what you are presenting to us today.

he wouldn't be serving up plastic turkey! That's the difference, Mr. Graham. Obama offers form where Bush offered façade.
