Edited on Sun Apr-15-07 03:59 PM by bluerum
will get colder tonight, causing some snow and sleety stuff. The wind is supposed to pick up overnight.

Poor marathoners are running tomorrow.

7. We've had heavy rains, thunderstorms and high winds all day today
Edited on Sun Apr-15-07 03:48 PM by Island Blue
here on the coast of North Carolina. It's 70 degrees though, so no snow. :) I haven't been over to the beach to see if there's been any damage, but I'd imagine there have been a few houses lost to the ocean in this one.

Edited to add: The sun is coming out now (4:45 pm). At one point earlier today, the sun also came out for a brief period - it was kind of like an eye. Soon after, the storm started roaring again, worse than before.

The water is really puddling up in places, mostly around the big above-ground roots of the silver maples.

And my mood is not exactly sweetness and light.

14. If your nor'easter will be fueled by the storms from the south
Beware! After the storms came the most gawdawful winds, last night and today. Constant blowing with gusts almost 40 mph. Its sunny out but I only went outside once today because I didn't want to get hit by a limb or some other flying object.

44. The winds have finally died here
Not before spoiling my plans for the day. The sound was enough to drive me batty. It kept the temps about 20 degrees cooler than it should have been.

I shudder to think what those winds combined with snow would be like.

here in Detroit, the sun is shining but it is windier than heck and there are some pretty good gusts. Once this goes over the lakes, I imagine it will get really ugly for you all.

Please stay safe and here's a prayer it won't be too bad for all of you.

34. Hey neighbors!!
Thomaston here!! Had to run out earlier today for bread, and make a bank deposit. Rainy cold and raw, but not much wind....yet. Hope we don't lose power, or I CAN'T FLUSH !! Well water,.. but I have a 5 gal. container of water just for an emergancy like that! The Naugatuck River down behind my house is getting very high, and my "brook" is a raging torrent. White water rafting anyone?? Everyone stay safe and dry, we'll get through this, Lord willing, but "the crick IS rising"!! My bathroom sky lite has sprung a leak, but it's over the bathtub, so I'm watching that fearfully, with towels at hand if need be. DC

26. Fortunately I'm in southern NH rather than up north.
We got about 4 - 5 inches of snow and now it's raining - they're supposed to get up to 2 feet of snow. The worst part of this is remembering that last year at this time I had the garden tilled and spinach and lettuce seeds planted. This year they're still planted, but in pots on the sun porch to give them a head start if we ever see green again.

27. Must be one strong Nor'easter
Forecasters had said northeast TN "may" get some snow tonight and tomorrow morning from the wrap-around effect of the Nor'easter, but no accumulation likely. Snow began falling here around 4 pm, my tulips are covered, my car is covered, and my lawn is getting covered. A while ago I read NOAA's online weather forecast for this area for tonight and had to laugh, considering the temperature has already dropped to 33.

"Tonight: Rain showers likely before 3am, then a chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. Breezy, with a northwest wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected."

From the satellite images I've been seeing today, it looks as though the whole storm went around us to the north.

I'm hoping so, at least.

39. Jersey Shore here, plenty of rain some wind starting a few hours ago.
So far it's pretty mild compared to the big Noreaster of 92.

My guess is that the recent ice storm got rid of the weak tree branches so unless this thing gets real bad power outages are unlikely. High tide tonight and all the rain could cause flooding. The news media will gather at Sea Bright (new Jersey's answer to Atlantis) and wait for it to get worse.

Oh yeah, we found a few leaks in the roof (there goes the tax refund).
