I'm going to reserve judgement on the death of Bill Sparkman and...

Leave it to the pros to reach the real conclusions.

However, I will say that it's a tragedy.

Edited to Remember Mr. Bill Sparkman.

1. Yes, he sounded like a terrific person who had overcome a lot of odds
And remade his life to do good by kids. I hope if it was murder they find who did it.

I hate that the possibility that it was done simply because he was a Census worker is plausible.

3. What are you, some kind of freethinker?
Hang someone. Now. You know they did it.

4. Sad in a way how people will jump to use a death to support their own ideals
"oh those evil RW folks killed a person" and yet, how many are still in peril in Iraq and Afghanistan, but because we like the person in charge those deaths are clean and ok?

If McCain/Palin were in office right now, how often would we see threads about how they were responsible for the deaths of others (in regards to the wars)?

At some point, I hope we rise beyond politics as a people and stand for what is right, and not stand behind a religion or party.

5. How dare you, sir!
Has that vicious Hofstra gang rape case taught us we should all jump to conclusions, and stick with those conclusions regardless of whatever happens?!

6. You mean maybe because we have SO little info right now
we shouldn't be jumping to tidy shitpiles of conclusions? Dare we embrace rationality and reason?

12. That's nice -
go putting reasonable and sane words in someone else's mouf. Even if the OP was already sane and sensible.

Why do you hate America?

10. A man is dead. That much we know. Tragic, to be sure. What bothers me about the whole thing is
Edited on Thu Sep-24-09 12:51 AM by cherokeeprogressive
that there are posters here who hope he was killed by someone they can hate, not for his murder but for whatever ideology teh alleged murderer might espouse.

Sad.

11. An eloquent summation
The polar regions of the political spectrum suffer from a strange morbidity.

13. The dead man doesn't matter,
regardless of the protestations of some who are keen on stating what a great man he was (they don't know that).

What matters is that his death has to be attributed to people - nebulous, vague villains - who need to be demonized regardless of facts or reality getting in the way.

Even without an autopsy report..........................
