Calvin Coolidge's Progressive Elements
I was looking into the presidency of Calvin Coolidge and I found some interesting things. While Coolidge is one of our most conservative Presidents in history, he also had some Progressive factors.

- Attack the Klu Klux Klan and weakened their power
- Pro Women's Rights
- Signed A Bill That Gave Bonuses To Military Veterans
- As Governor, signed a bill that lowered working hours from 55 hours to 45 hours in his state
- Pro Labor Unions

I also found out Coolidge had a liberal record in Massachusetts as a Governor, he said he believed matters of government were best left to the states which would explain why he hardly did anything. Also he did cut taxes, but he made up for it by raising the estate and gift tax which explains why the National Debt went down. Also those tax cuts were for the middle and lower class. He left the rich alone.

He also hated World Trade. He would have been against NAFTA.

I just thought it was interesting. Even the first conservatives would be labeled liberal according to today's right wingers. It gives me some respect for Silent Cal over today's nuts.

3. Since Dubya's Regime, I've Found That...
Since Dubya's regime began (And since ended, Praise Heaven!), I've found that I can find nice things to say about all sorts of the most conservative Republican administrations reaching back to the Civil War. I've even found nice things to say about Warren G. Harding.

What's kinda' fun is to run comparisons between what were previously considered the very worst US presidents and no. 43 where the reactionaries like to post their propaganda. They HATE such comparisons!
