1. Iraq started taking Euros for oil and suddenly
they got shocked, awed, and then some.

Same routine, different GPS coordinates.

3. Iraq switched over to Euros
Edited on Fri Sep-25-09 06:22 AM by Turbineguy
just after the 2000 US election. To me it always seemed clearly provocative towards Bush. I suspect that if the "election results" had gone the other way, Saddam Hussein would have stayed with US Dollars.

Switching to the Euro was in my mind as close as Bush could have even gotten to a legitimate reason for attacking Iraq. But he never played that card.

As it is, this is no reason to attack Iran as Bush has already done far more damage than this switch could ever do.

12. It was closer than any other reason
that Bush gave. If nothing else it was the truth.

And it actually was a threat to the U.S.

5. As anticipated
I'm one of those conspiracy nuts who believe Iraq was invaded for threatning the Petro-dollar.

6. even worse, they found new reserves of oil, especially
that valuable light crude, in places they did not expect. A LOT of it. You can almost see Blackwater war planners painting concentric circles around Teheran.

8. Which is why Sarkozy and Brown stood shoulder to shoulder with Obama today?

Your tin foil hat needs adjusting.

9. That's fucking awesome.
I would love to see this country taken down a couple of pegs and actually have to be civil to countries like France, Spain, Portugal, and Italy. Make them full trading partners and have to negotiate and work with them, instead of giving the whole world the finger, and greedily gobbling up half of the natural resources of the planet like it's our god given right to trash the planet, feed our fat assed overfed populace tons of high starch food made with a huge carbon footprint, and give fuck-all about the rest of the world.

Sadly, that ain't happening anytime soon...we are still the bullies with the biggest fucking stick on the playground, and we love to use it. This is something that is much bigger and more entrenched than Obama, so I don't expect it to change.

14. Look around you
It's happening right now. You think losing your job, your home and your health aren't making people a little more humble? Your wish is happening even as you bitterly deny it.
