Can anyone explain the Czar thing???
I don't get it. I keep hearing Czar's mentioned or seeing it in print. Why the uproar? What does it mean? I get some part that Obama has appointed A Czar to something, is this a made-up so called bogeyman???

1. It's a media word meaning someone appointed to head up something.
They did the same thing with Shrub, but nobody paid much attention.

6. Furthermore...
Using "czar" was first done by the Nixon administration. Funny how they forget that, eh?

2. Something about cabinet level position and power
Given to people who are not confirmed by congress.

It started back under FDR with temporary positions.

Kinda morphed to permanent ones these days.

That's the gist as I see it now.

3. It's definition drift.
When a Republican appoints a Czar it's to fix a problem. You know, like drugs.

When a Democrat appoints a Czar it's like "Autocrat of All Russias"

4. Short name for a long title.
E.g., the Drug Czar is really the Head of Drug programs, Special Action Office of Drug Abuse Prevention. Easier isn't it?

Everything else you hear is bullshit.

continuing support of communism . . . .

Learned that from Beck.

9. It is like ACORN a whole bunch of stuff about nothing.
The first czar was under Nixon and many Presidents have had them since then. And also too (props to S. Palin)
the communists forced out the czars in Russia so when people yell that Obama is a socialist they are dead wrong.

14. Coined by Nixon, embraced by Reagan, Bush I, Bush II, but they are Obama's fault.
He apparently time-traveled to FDR's time to start the practice.

Obama can do ANYTHING!

17. Based on the Drug Czar's results over 40 years, I would say
they either do nothing or give aid and comfort to those they are supposed to oppose.

21. They were monarchs in Russia and Bulgaria
The last Russian czar, Nicholas II, abdicated power in 1917 as a result of the February Revolution. He and his family were then executed by Bolsheviks a year later. It is still a matter of speculation whether some of his family members survived and lived in exile.

22. It's like they were abducted for the entire Reagan era - drug czar. We were pounded
with it. Everytime a new one was named, it made the news. Every person who held the position was on the news for propaganda purposes.

Hey, Mr and Mrs Foxlovers - there is no Secretary of Drugs. But there is an appointee who has been given that nickname. Drug czar.

There have been commies in the White House for decades if you believe that Czar is commie.

Wake up. Pay attention.

Why can't Democrats become more organized to fight the head buried crowd.

25. Recent activity sounds like a new talking point
created by people like Frank Luntz or others to
criticize any appointment of special adviser by
Obama. Wordsmiths like Luntz are at work in
creating negativity with use of the word "czar."
Like he did with "death tax." Phony non-issue
issues that capture attention of the media and
non-thinking segments of the public.
