Today we find out who the real Democrats are on the Finance Committee. (Starting now, Cspan 3.)

Today is the day. If you like high theatre -or low theatre depending on how one looks at it- you have to watch the the finance committee today on Cspan as they mark up the latest attempt at gutting health care.

This is the day we see two amendments introduced by two Senators, one from Rockefeller and one from Schumer, both including a public option. If either amendment passes then we have five bills, each and all with a public option. Watch the votes carefully on these amendments for this is where we separate the real Democrats in the Senate from the pretend Democrats. This is the proof we need as to who is, in the final analysis, is with the American public, and who is against us.

Let's talk about it, will you be watching?

I believe what the Finance Committee is going to put out is not going to address the issues in our country that deal with health care reform. I believe we need to do what President Obama doesn’t want to do--start all over. All the tweaking is going to be just that, tweaking. We need to build a health care system that will work for all of us. Single payer is the only thing I can see that won’t have loopholes to be attacked. It is a very cut and dry plan.

Anyone else hear that?

They are only in session until noon today and will not vote on Public Option until Tuesday. It might be the time to have an email push to all members of the committee telling them how we feel.

Last night on Rachael Schumer said the votes would be today.

and the Dinos an email reminding them that health care is a moral issue and nobody in America should have to deal with the problems we hear about. The minority whip is my congressman, and I used his words which have come to bite him in the butt this week: "No one in this country, given who we are, should be sitting without an option to be addressed" in my email. He used these words when responding to a woman needing health care NOW and she has no insurance.

Sheesh...
