4. She gave him an appropriate name.
Obviously Cesarean delivery was needed, but can you imagine carrying something that size to term?

5. Get this excerpt:
"He is greedy and has a strong appetite, nursing almost nonstop," the doctor said.

Lord, I hope she's bottle feeding?!?

19. it says they are giving him cereal
already. wow - I've never heard of that. My friend had a 10 lb 5 oz boy (she too is diabetic) and also dsaid that he never stopped eating.

I know this is an amazing thing but we all need to realie that it can be very dangerous too. I'm glad they are both alright.

11. Not to make light of this or anything but...
my son weighed 14 lbs. and was 24.5 inches at birth. He was also a big eater, started him on cereal as soon as we got him home (doctors orders). Today he is 36 years old is 6'4" and weighs about 180lbs. When all this started I weighed a mere 118lbs, I gained about 65lbs, they thought I was going to have twins. And yes it was c-section.

18. I was vaginally born at 10 pounds, 8 ounces.
My birth was natural, but only because my mother couldn't hold me in long enough for the doctor to get into the room. He was scrubbing up and reassuring her she still had a lot more labor to go even as I was sliding out. Caused quite a rip, too. Yikes. My mother always said she didn't request any anesthetic before he sewed her back up because by that time she couldn't feel anything anymore anyway.

21. They (meaning doctors) tried to make this a vaginal birth, but after
36 hours of labor they decided to do an xray to see what the problem was. They decided he was too big. Later after it was all over a nurse told me that if I would have had him vaginally he or I or both would have probably died from it.

20. exactly
although amazing, we need to realize that this is due to a disease and is very dangerous. She had three macrosomic children and hopefully she will continue to be under a doctor's care to control her diabetes - unless its only gestational.
