Michael Moore New Film
In at least one part of Michael Moore's new film Moore bashes bankers for getting people to take out loans on there houses and to refinance their homes. How much of the blame goes to the homes owners who followed the lead of the bankers. None of the bankers forced these people to do the things they did. In addition, the bankers did not stop the people from researching what they were going to do. Just because bankers told people they could do something did not mean they had to do those things. So, is Moore giving too much blame to bankers and not enough blame to individuals.

1. Haven't seen the movie. You're probably right
But come on. We're a social species. We turn on the radio, they were telling us to refinance.
We turn on the news, experts are telling us to use our equity in our home. We look at our neigbhors, we see they just bought a new car or installed a swimming pool. We look at our brother, he just moved into a giant new house and makes less than us.

It's a bit ridiculous to blame this on the individual. We do what we can to get ahead, and we were told that racking up debt is perfectly acceptable. In fact, we were told by the lenders that it was foolish not to go into debt.

I remember, starting out in life, I was worried I wouldn't qualify for loans.
The ethos of the day said debt was something that had a cost. That it wasn't for everyone. That is should be managed, very closely.

People didn't change those rules. The lenders did.
