BOSTON -- A Suffolk Superior Judge rejected an injunction Friday filed by Republicans who were trying to block Gov. Deval Patrick's interim appointment to the U. S. Senate.
GOP leaders went to court Friday morning to try to delay the swearing-in of Paul Kirk, who was chosen to fill Sen. Edward Kennedy's seat.
"I'm trying to think through, 'What's the irreparable harm?' and the irreparable harm would be that the commonwealth of Massachusetts would have a senator sitting, and that he shouldn't be sitting so they wouldn't have a senator?" Suffolk Superior Court Judge Thomas Connolly said.
