Want to see the right-wing mindset in full?
Two posts here from a message board I lurk in, the first one is a Glenn Beck fan and the second loves to call others' patriotism into question for their opinions, going so far as to label them "anti-American" or "traitorous."

First one:

"As for the sites you mention, why should I believe what they have to
say? Politico is left wing, every single one of the mainstream media
outlets is in the bag for Obama, and the Christian Science Monitor is
just as much a bunch of loons, just from the right side of the aisle.
You mention Obama's numbers are coming back up. Well, that's just the
little bump he got from his Sunday campaign sales pitch on all the
magazine shows. It won't last. I find it rather ironic as well that he
refused to appear on the single most influential of the Sunday shows,
that has more viewership combined than all those he did go on. But I
guess if you can't stand the heat, stay the hell out of the kitchen. You
hide and watch, too, as the Dems (Pelosi, Reid, Schumer, Durbin, et.
al.) torpedo his health care initiative yet again. Schumer is still
trying to get the public option reinstated in the current version. I
guarantee if he somehow manages to get a bill passed, he may as well
fall on his sword because he will lose the House and the Senate in the
midterms. Passing that bill will also add enough to the red ink that
China and Japan will stop buying our debt, and that could trigger the
collapse of the dollar worldwide. If that comes to pass, he will be
lucky to finish his term without getting impeached."

Second:

"JC> Jesus... I'd almost bet money you would believe Obama was the evil twin
JC> of Santa Claus if Glen Beck told you so. Try something other than Faux"

"These are surrender words."

1. I used to argue with those people but I had to quit.
They had me wishing I could reach through the internet and smash their faces in. It just isn't fun anymore. Stupid people just will not listen and will never admit defeat even in the face of overwhelming proof. They are there not to learn but to bash liberals for fun. Useless waste of time to cast pearls before swine.

4. I still argue with some from time to time
Edited on Fri Sep-25-09 01:00 PM by Chulanowa
It's like tapping on the lobster tank at a seafood place. You know you're not supposed to, but it's funny to see them freak a little.

The only ones i can't bring myself to argue with any more are Libertarians. Good lord, have you talked to these people? They're like a bunch of ducks, wandering around awkwardly, quacking out "Market, market, market, free market, market!" every time something ruffles them. Biggest bunch of testicular carbuncles I've ever seen.

5. I know, you can't nail them down on anything.
Except that they hate everything you say. They are there to argue politics but they refuse to take a stand on any issue, all they do bash liberals with no real input as to how things should be done.

9. It is important to argue with them IF you have an audience.
There are some people who don't care what the truth is, and you will never change their minds. But, if you have an audience, to watch the exchange, you will convince some in the audience. I never argue with these people WITHOUT an audience, because it is pointless. But I dearly love making them look like the fools that they are when I do have an audience.

7. Want To Expose A Libertarian?
Here's how you do it. Start them talking about healthcare reform. They will, quite predictably, be against it. They'll give you all sorts of reasons why they're against it. Somewhere in that huge, steaming pile of horse dung, they will inevitably "inform" you that the private sector does everything better, and that the free market, where everyone competes against each other, always results in the best product for the cheapest price.

Then you hit them with this: "Oh, so your FOR free market competition, then?" They'll say yes.

Now bury the hammer right between their eyebrows: "And you don't want the government to enter the free market and provide a lower-cost alternative for people who need it............WHY? You just told me competition in the free market ALWAYS results in the best product for the lowest price. The healthcare providers will have to either start providing a better product or they'll have to lower their prices. How is this a BAD thing?" They'll stammer out something about rationing and substandard care and about how the government will put all the private health insurers out of business (or any combination of those). To which you reply: "But if the government screws up everything they touch, how would they put the superior care provided by private health insurers out of business? If government-run healthcare is so bad, wouldn't it cause the people to go running TOWARD the private insurers, kicking and screaming? That's like saying if I open up a terrible restaurant and serve rotten food for next to nothing, I'll put the best restaurants in town out of business. You don't actually BELIEVE that............DO YOU???" If government care is so bad, the free market will soon put them out of business, right?

Now you've caught them in the middle of two separate lies that contradict each other. Either government care is substandard, in which case the private insurers have nothing to fear, or it's superior and will put the private insurers out of business. But not both. Either way, the free market HAS, in fact, provided Americans with the best possible product at the lowest possible price. The free market has worked just as Adam Smith had envisioned. Don't you agree, Libertarians?

Since they certainly WON'T agree, you've just exposed them as right-wing hacks who fear change and/or corporate shills. But almost to a man, I've found that people who claim to be Libertarians are nothing more than people who don't want to pay taxes. That's generally the extent of their deeply-held political beliefs in Libertarianism.

10. There's more to libertarianism than tax aversion
They're also very, very adamant that ALL drugs should be legal, including such wonderful drugs as crack, meth and heroin which sane people believe should be illegal. Or like I've said many times before, a Libertarian is a Republican with a bag of weed.

12. I've tried this logic already
In a nut shell here is the result:

I've got mine, screw you!

There is no point in arguing with right wingers they're all the same. They may say they are this and that but in the end they're the same authoritarian assholes that voted for Reagan, Bush and Bush II. It's amazing to me when they argue about not having any bias, they unconsciously bring up right wing talking points without even realizing it.

All I do now is ridicule their beliefs and values, there is no point to do anything else.

8. Numbers and letters and words are part of a vast satanic conspiracy.
I know because I saw a picture once in the Bible of the Tower of Babel. Something about language, logic and sin. Obviously all bad. Look at where it got those towel heads!

If you can read this message, you're gonna go to Hell with the rest of the Godless Commies and A-rabs.
