Demanding Civility From Our Elected Reps Doesn't Limit Their Free Speech
Edited on Fri Sep-25-09 12:48 PM by KittyWampus
there are some who can't seem to grasp that using public pressure and opinion to effect change is not the same as calling for something to be OUTLAWED.

I want Republicans to start showing some Civility and to be held Accountable for their chosen rhetoric. And they bloody well should be showing some Respect for our elected President AND American citizens who voted for him and other Democrats.

Their hate-speech may be protected by the Constitution but I sure as hell will hold them and their accomplices in the media accountable for inflaming an already volatile situation.

The Bill of Rights and Constitution doesn't mean sitting passively by while others do whatever they can to hurt you and foment violence.

The hate-mongering needs to be exposed and traced back to where it's coming from.

1. Also, don't most of us have rules governing behavior at work?
Same thing applies to those in Congress while they are on the job.

What dumbass things they say on their own time just give us insight to their real nature, but they sure can say what they want.

On the floor of the Congress, or in committee, they have standards of behavior, same as other workers. They just forget they, too, ARE workers. All too often, they also forget who they work for.

2. Thank you
You are exactly right. We need to go after the hate-mongering in the media. It needs to be addressed. I don't know why people confuse a call for people opposed to such hate to speak out as a call for some kind of police action against the haters. It appears to be a knee-jerk reaction when you disagree with what these moron's spew, you are immediately accused of wanting to "silence them" when you said nothing of the sort.

I think the media is to blame for not investigating these hateful conspiracy theories and outing them for the silliness they are, but they lap them up and call it "the other side". The media is sickening and not doing their jobs at all.
