Did Kids Sing to Reagan?

I just heard about the contraversy that has erupted over a group of second grade students singing a song to President Obama. Apparently, some parents and tv commentators, Glen Beck among them, are angry partly due to the words used in the song. In the song the kids say many nice things about Obama. Those that are opposed to the song claim it is indoctrination.

I understand that the teacher and/or the administration of the school should have realized that the words used in the song would make some parents angry. In addition, I think the school could have come up with a better song to sing for President Obama. However, I wonder if there is a double standard in this case.

I am not aware whether or not kids sang song to Ronald Reagan when he was in office, but it would not shock me if they did sing songs to him. So, anyone know if kids sang to Ronal Reagan when Reagan was in office.

If they did, he probably slept through it.

I don't believe that politics should be in public elementary school. Same thing with religion. I don't think that they should sing God Bless America or say the Pledge of Allegiance either. Either way, the schools won't indoctrinate these kids at this age. Parents will do that until they grow old enough to realize how stupid they were brought up. The real reason why freepers are pissed off is because there is no way they could find a way to write a song about Bush with it being complimentary towards him.

I just don't agree with a teacher having students sing a song praising a politician.
