Is Hillary as the nominee really inevitable?
While Hillary may be the front-runner, I don't think that she is guaranteed the nomination on a silver platter. While the Republicans usually follow the "it's my turn" rule and anoint their nominee, we Democrats like upstarts. People like Kennedy, McGovern, Carter, (Bill) Clinton, and Dean were not originally expected to be our nominee, but broke through because they ran superior campaigns, and were seen as authentic.

2. No, not at all.....
there is a very, very long time before the first primary, and all sorts of interesting things can and most likely will happen.

3. Absolutely not
This is a wide-open race with several strong contenders on our side. And a year is an eternity in politics.

4. EVERYTHING could change in a nanosecond
if one single man announced his candidacy.

So, no, nothing is inevitable

22. It could also be Bill Clinton, if he can't keep it
in his pants. He could blow it for her.

8. Her nomination will prove to be at least as inevitable as
as John Connally's in 1980.

The candidate with the money and connections almost always wins.

10. Yes, we'll find out if money talks, 'cause that's one thing Hillary has.
Connections, too, of course.

I, like others on DU, think Hillary would be a decent President. I do not think she is the best candidate, though, because I don't know if she can overcome her negatives.

13. Nope.
She's got money and a name. So what? People are pretty fed up with both these days. Corruption in DC makes anyone rolling in money suspect and many are fed up with dynasties and cults of personality. The media want a Guiliani-Hillary rematch. They definitely want Hillary so they can wallow in old Monica garbage again.

Fresh faces and fresh ideas. That is the only way the real issues of this nation will be addressed.

14. The early primaries are geared around locking in the front runner
Senator Clinton is coasting on high name recognition. This fall, when the race starts to heat up, you'll see her weak and ill-informed supporters drift to other candidates and start to give the false impression that she is faltering. In fact, what she'll be doing is sloughing off weak support while slowly picking up more committed supporters. Still, she'd poised to be this year's Gary Hart, this year's Dick Gephardt.

Her key strength as a candidate is the perception that she's the inevitable nominee. Once that goes, she's just another senator.

16. No. The media is pushing her against Obama as some sort
of forgone conclusion and you really don't know how their polling is handled in manner or word. Ignore it and find out where things stand after debates and such. There are much more important things happening in this country right now that need our attention and addressing.

21. I think she would make a good president also.
It seems that the main argument against her is, "Its what the right wants," which is pathetic reason to be against someone. The democrats lost several elections because they were worried what the right would do or think. The republicans who are obsessed with Hillary will never vote for a democrat for president so its useless worrying what they think. I also believe that many DUers don't like the thought of a strong woman as a presidential candidate, though they won't ever admit it.

26. No but the rightwing media is sure hyping it
was driving with little on the radio - stuck with Hannity interviewing dick Morris - this was their message... even bragged about an upcoming swiftboat effort against Hillary. It was a "send us money!" moment.
