Why it is important that everyone call their Senators and Reps on Health Care
Edited on Mon Sep-28-09 06:23 AM by liberal N proud
Each office of each Representative and Senator takes counts of how many calls they get for or against an issue.

Even if you know where your Representative or Senator stands on Health Care, they need to hear from you so they can back up on the floor what the polls are saying. They can say that the people from their district or state say they want health care reform.

Emails are great, but the phone calls get counted more by the offices.

Find your Representatives contact information at: http://house.gov/

Find your Senators contact information at: http://senate.gov/

Both sites have a search engine at the top of the page.

Start calling and keep calling.

1. I've called, I've written, I even sent them one of my hospital bills

Here is the rub. My representative doesn't care. My time for action against him is in 2010. I just pray I don't get a DLC blue dog corporatist as his replacement.

2. Keep calling anyway
These are the ones we really need to be calling. Their tallies need to show that people are calling in favor of reform. The staff takes the count.

If the numbers show in favor of reform, they have less to use against reform.

Keep calling them.

3. I'm done phone banking Charlie Dent
He has made his position quite clear. There will not be one republican vote for this bill in the house or senate. This battle is effectively over.

I'll focus on the next battle which is removing him from office in 2010.

6. Here is the problem...
If they don't get more calls in favor of health care reform, they can go to the floor with facts.

Facts that show the message from their district says no on health care.

But if everyone calls in favor, regardless of what the congressman has said, and the in favor calls out number the against, they do not have that piece of evidence to use on the floor.

It's just removing any thing they can get their claws into to fight this thing.

Of course they are going to vote no, they are obstructionist. But don't give them anything they can use.

7. This battle is over
The votes are all set.

The question we have now is whether we get a half assed bill or no bill at all.

Charlie is going to go to floor and lie regardless of whether I call him. He's been bought and paid. He has made a calculation that he can buy more votes by purchasing propoganda with donors than he can by voting the right way.

This is what pisses me off about this entire "debate" democrats walked into it assuming after the past 8 years of political rhetoric that there would be a fair "debate" and they got their asses kicked.
