Apparently tomorrow is Nelson's 67th birthday.

Take this opportunity to let him know where you stand on the public option and on personal mandates!

I'm sure this will get his and his staff's attention!

2. I Just Sent Birthday Wishes and this Message...
Senator:

You were my senator for several years when I lived in Florida, in fact, I campaigned very hard for you. While you and I are a bit apart on issues (I am a yellow dog), I have always had a tremendous respect for you and your lovely wife. I wish you a Happy Birthday and hope that your birthday wish will include the public option for health care. I was just laid off and need medication; Cobra is expensive but I am fortunate that I can pay the outrageous cost but there are so many who can not. The health care fairs held in Houston and Los Angeles should tell you that our government is failing the American people. Please don't let the greedy insurance companies win this one, our lives depend on it.

I wish us all Happy and healthy Birthdays.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bill Nelson is a very nice man; I was fortunate to meet him on many occasions and I really like him personally. I do not agree with his more moderate stands but I learned a long time ago that if I expected every politician to agree with me 100%, well...I wouldn't be supporting anyone. I choose not to compromise with these politicians but to pester them to hear the view of those they don't agree with. As the earlier poster said, "Don't hold your breath." I agree, will this change Nelson's mind, not likely. But he will hear the other view.
3. We need a public option AND personal mandates.
Of course, with personal mandates, there needs to be maximum choice, including access to a public option -- otherwise, mandates are marketing ploys for private health insurance.
But short of a single-payer or other all-inclusive enrollment system, personal mandates are essential so that those who can afford to insure but wish not to cannot be free riders, burdening the rest of us when they become ill beyond their ability to pay.
Agreed ..
If you require insurance companies ( Public option included) to not charge extra/ not deny for a pre-existing condition ... Why should anyone buy insurance.... I will buy it After I get sick.
