"Naddering nabobs of negativism"? Will they get the irony or not?
On The Rachel Maddow Show, Rep.Grayson referred to the Repugs by that phrase -- infamously used by convicted felony tax-evader, former MD guv'nor, and disgraced Republican Vice-President Spiro T. Agnew in referring to his critics in the media (arch-conservative speechwriter William Safire actually coined the phrase). Now Repugs are on the sharp end of that barb.

A Google search reveals that former Counsel to the President, John Dean, had also used that phrase in a trenchant article on conservative attempts to own the judiciary: http://writ.news.findlaw.com/dean/20090417.html

Perhaps that kind of vocabulary won't influence many voters. But most will get Stephen Colbert's recent "word-a-day calendar" for Republicans-- every day has just one word: NO

1. As much as I hate wasting a chance to slam Ralph Nader,
The word should be nattering.

4. The saying was originally coined as a slam against anti-war protesters in the 60's.
And attacked the media, most notably after Cronkite went anti-Vietnam war.
