OMFG Bachmann says that reformed healthcare will mean "sex clinics" offering abortions in schools--
Edited on Thu Oct-01-09 09:41 AM by Mrs. Overall
(she's a fear mongering lunatic)

Schools might start offering abortions if healthcare reform passes, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) warned last night.

Speaking on the House floor, Bachmann raise concerns about the "school based health clinics" discussed in H.R. 3200, which she labeled "sex clinics."

Bachmann said the passage was designed to bring Planned Parenthood into the nation's schools.

She continued:
But parents are going to excluded from Planned Parenthood as they write these clinics because the bill orders that these clinics protect patient privacy and student records. What does that mean? It means that parents will never know what kind of counsel and treatment that their children are receiving. And as a matter of fact, the bill goes on to say what's going to go on -- comprehensive primary health services, physicals, treatment of minor acute medical conditions, referrals to follow-up for specialty care -- is that abortion? Does that mean that someone's 13 year-old daughter could walk into a sex clinic, have a pregnancy test done, be taken away to the local Planned Parenthood abortion clinic, have their abortion, be back and go home on the school bus that night? Mom and dad are never the wiser.

It's not clear this is the case, however. Section 2511 specifically states that such clinics must follow state laws governing parenal consent.

20. If so, then I think God already knows
about it! She's probably more afraid of her rabid base finding out about it than anything else, if that is, indeed, the case.

What's truly frightening to me is that she was a prosecutor before running for Congress. That kind of crazy never mixes well with the practice of law, especially as a judge or prosecutor.

but back in the '80s I heard a Christian radio station have on a nutter who was swearing that even then, schools were secretly bussing girls to Planned Parenthood clinics for abortions. This insane meme has been around in the states for quite a while. :eyes:

40. My very own DINO State Rep
voted several years ago to cut state funding for a High School teen health center because, she said, a parent had told her "they were doing abortions there". She said it during a debate, and no one followed up about just where...inside the school building... abortions were underway. Probably too busy scratching their heads saying ...HUH????

43. Yes, abortions in the lunch room
One line in the lunchroom will be for a hot lunch of sloppy joes, the other line will be for abortions. They'll have conveyor belts on which the students recline that take them one-by-one for their abortions over the lunch period. I can't wait for Bachmann to elaborate on this!
