Senate Passes Jet Money (which Obama and team didn't want)

The Senate voted Wednesday to spend $2.5 billion on 10 military cargo jets that the Obama administration does not want.

The 64-34 vote came on an amendment to the defense appropriations bill. The House has already approved a defense appropriations bill that includes money for the C-17s.

1. Actually, if I rmember correctly

Gates came out strongly AGAINST these outdated planes. The ones that wanted them to stay were mainly the senators and reps from the states involved with their production.

3. That was my understanding also

The one Senator I don't get, is Inoyue from Hawaii. Last time I talked to family back home there wasn't any facility being built to help construct these C-17's.

Lieberman and Dodd wanted them...we build airplane parts here in CT by Pratt & Whitney. My mother in law and her husband both work there. I love my state and don't want to see more layoffs (which P&W just announced) but we don't need these planes.
