...the Olympic bid.

So, while I still think there is an important lesson for America to learn from Chicago's first round exit, I'm going to try and get back on track here.

Congratulations Rio.

I'm sure the media will focus on "Obama's rebuff" over the weekend, during which 370 Americans will die due to lack of health insurance.

1. This should be Obama's priority. He has no time to lobby Senators to pass a public option,
but plenty to lobby the IOC to bring the Olympics to Chicago. :eyes:

2. Your assumption that this is an issue of time isn't founded, IMO.
Obama had plenty of time to make phone calls on Air Force One both there and on the way back. If he wanted to.

I also believe that article referred to the WH in general, not just Obama.

7. Would a tele-conference call have been cheaper than the whole
support groups for both the POTUS and FLOTUS and their multiple aircraft and vehicles going on the failed bid to the IOC?

9. Maybe, but representing our country is their job...
...and the meeting with McChrystal was probably worth the expense alone.

But, anyway, what are your feelings on health care?

10. My feelings on health care - health care is good. Also good is the
president hanging out with senators and representatives trying to undo the damage that lobbyists do, but hey, that's just me.

Some say more than 45 million people are without health care, 273,000 jobs lost this month according to one report I read, labor department says 14 million out of work with only 2.4 million jobs available for them. All this and the POTUS and FLOTUS, along with their whole entourage and multiple airplanes going for a holiday in Denmark for some sports activities.

Yeah, health care is a good thing. Don't you wish the people - all of them - in D.C. thought so also.

One wonders if the cry from the family going to Denmark is the same cry as the family that formerly flew to Texas is the same: "Of all the words so big and fine, the best are these "I got mine."

3. I'm happy for Rio and sad for Chicago, but what's done is done I guess.
Let the media and the RW assholes have their anti-American fun for a few days.

The adults in charge are already back to critical business.

4. Pretty much.
We have a health care crisis and two wars to manage. I think it's sad the media is giving no time to Obama's meeting with McChrystal.

No time for Olympics right now.

8. He's got a nice house and health insurance. And a job. And he

gets to fly anywhere he wants to at taxpayer expense and take a bunch of guests, and his wife gets her own plane to go with him.

6. And some of those who will die in the coming weeks
might just have been saved had the jobs from the Olympics had come to Chicago.
