email from my Senator about public option
Dear Ms. Lastname:

Thank you for contacting me regarding your support for health care reform that includes a public health insurance plan. I support a public option, and I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

An Urban Institute study from last year showed that one in six metropolitan areas is dominated by a single health insurance provider that covers 70 percent of consumers. This lack of competition in many areas has provided few incentives for providers to lower costs and increase quality of care. A public insurance option that provides competition in a given area would give consumers more choices while reducing health care costs.

The “Affordable Health Choices Act,” which was approved by the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions July 15th, would create a public health insurance plan known as the “Community Health Insurance Option.” Please be assured I support the inclusion of a public health insurance plan in any health care reform legislation the Senate considers, and I will keep your views in mind as this debate moves forward.

Thank you again for contacting me.

Sincerely,
Frank Lautenberg

1. There are some good ones out there that I don't hear about because they're
not in the news, so thanks for sharing this. And thanks to Senator Lautenberg!

3. Don't read the bill or it will wreck your buzz.
The bill sets up 50 different "public options" administered by private health insurance companies so they can compete with themselves.

Like i said, you don't want to read the bill.

7. Good. Don't read it. Keep thinking the worst, and whatever happens,
you'll be either happy or have something to complain about.

5.  I haven't trusted a thing Frank Lautenberg has done or said
since he helped put Sammy the Fish Alito on the Court. I won't trust him on this one either.

9. Yes, but he could have stopped Alito cold
with a hold. He was the Senator from New Jersey, Alito's home state, and could have used privilege to block the appointment. He didn't.

He even introduced him. He's as responsible as Bush for our having Alito on the court.
