The new GOP --- a letter sent to me from the local Dem headquarters...Lets Show UP Democrats!

The GOP has undergone a real transformation in the months since the President was inaugurated.

The "birthers", the "deathers" and the "teabaggers" seem to be doing the majority of the speaking for their Party with figure heads like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck calling the shots.

Meanwhile, elected Republicans are simply going with the flow. When asked if they believe that healthcare reform contains language requiring death panels or if the President is a natural born citizen, the answers seem to come in the form of denial but not so much that they might bother donors and supporters. Most importantly, they seem to be avoided teh ire of their media overlords.

It is easy to look at crowds with misspelled signs and seemingly disjointed messages and shrug them off as the lunatic fringe. But the reality is that the are being fueled by more than their own hysteria. Organizations like Americans for Prosperity and Freedom Works are behind a great deal of the frenzy. With the dissemination of misinformation and the organization of Tea Parties, they continue to stroke the anti-Obama, anti-reform fires all the while lending credibility to otherwise ridiculous causes. So where does this leave the GOP? Is the Republican Party really wandering in the tall grass or are they crazy like a fox? It remains to be seen what the impact of Tea Parties and events like the 9/12 Project will have. It is posible that all teh righteous indignation will translate into turnout on Election Day and that is the scenario that Democrats must be prepared for

Call to action:
Write a letter to the editor
Come to a Party event
Find a candidate you can connect with and help them

1. Theme for 2010 and 2012, as focused on independents:
"Do you want these crazy people running your government?"

Should be pretty compelling.

3. "crowds with misspelled signs," is kind of embarrassing to note when the OP
can't seem to spell the word "the" numerous times.

Okay, nitpick aside, whether I'll vote for another Dem in the next election depends on what happens in the next weeks and months. It's time they prove worthy, instead of suckering us into just picking the lesser of two corrupt, corporatist evils.

4. yea cause the OP clearly does not know how to spell
Edited on Sat Oct-03-09 10:47 AM by greenbriar
yet maybe it is because the OP is typing all this up and forgets to spell check and misses two little typo's

and still the message is the same

IF we would motivate, we could win but instead we will be content to look for mistakes within our own party and not show the ignorance of the loony RW

6. Hey, I sympathize with your embarrassment. It is difficult trying to be the spelling
nazi when your own apparent spelling issues are brought to your attention.

Why don't you pretend you don't have any typos, and rant about other's carelessness? OH! Wait a minute, you already did.

If you can claim your errors do not change the meaning of your OP, then you must also admit their misspellings don't change the meaning of their BS either.

7. I am by far not a spelling nazi. I detest them but by all means detract from the message
it is what we do best

attack each other and not the enemy

no wonder we will never get the health care reform we need

maybe we don't deserve it...we eat our own
