Just in the past 15 years, the murder rate in Rio de Janeiro has more than tripled. In 1994, over 8,000 murders were recorded and that's not the mention the rising non-violent crimes throughout the city and much of Brazil. Much of the violence seen in the favelas or shanty towns in Rio de Janeiro where much of the populace suffers from severe poverty problems. Because wealthy towns are located in close proximity to the favelas, kidnappings, rape, robbery and murder are common place. And when you span 8,000 murders out over 365 days, you get somewhere around 21 murders a day- making Rio de Janeiro one of the most dangerous places on earth to call home.

And Rio is a big town, so they'll need at least 2 or three weeks to check out the place. Their
wives will surely not want to spend so much time away from their families, so the men will have
to rough it on their own.

As for the facts they'll be finding out, I'm sure they'll be more appropriate for inclusion in
addenda to the Kama Sutra than the Congressional Record.

Case in point, the latest outrage of the nit wits, a 78 year old woman was arrested for buying to many cold medicines, never mind that she tried to buy more then the states laws permit because it is the type of cold med that contains the key ingredient to make meth, nope its a dumb law that needs to be tossed. But when the 23 year old's busted for making meth from the cold meds, they cheered law enforcement for keeping them safe. Kind of makes me wonder how these people didn't kill themselves with pointy sticks or bananas in self defense class.
