On Tea Baggers, Birthers, and other lunatics.
They can deny it all they want but many of these “birthers”, “tea baggers”, and healthcare reform protestors are motivated more by race rather than any sudden interest in the constitution or fiscal responsibility. I know, I’ve got the numerously forwarded racist e-mails to prove it. I also recall a recent 8 year span when “tea baggers” quietly condoned constitutional abuse and unrestrained spending.

It’s not that these protestors don’t find some blacks useful. What better proof that race is merely coincidental than if a mob of white protestors can take turns being photographed next to the two black brothers-in-arms who showed up for the rally? This camera induced camaraderie soon fades once the crowd disperses and the newest race-based e-mail hits the internet.

These Fox News sponsored demonstrations against the president’s policies are merely window dressing used to distract us from the real product the GOP is shilling. Cloaked amongst hysterical health care reform claims and imaginary threats to the constitution is their coded advertisement: A BLACK MAN is stealing YOUR country. The byproduct: Not so veiled threats of assassination and insurrection as well as a level of fear and hatred for a president unseen since the civil war.

Can it be that racial intolerance is the GOP’s best and last hope for regaining the White House?

What about their “family values” platform? Its legs were cut out from underneath it as one prominent, conservative, Christian, hypocrite after another was caught cheating, many times with a member of the same sex, sometimes with minors, and once, at least, in an airport toilet stall.

The GOP knows their base accepts these adulterers, budget busters, and constitution shredders, with only one stipulation, they must be a White Republican. They also know, with some gently applied race baiting, that base won’t soon tolerate waking each morning with the knowledge that their country is being led by a known black man…Even if he’s never been a toilet loiterer.

This new twist on the old southern strategy has sturdy, time tested legs that won’t be undercut any time soon.

1. Racism, Sir, Has Been The Political Strength Of The Republican Party For More Than Forty Years
When it comes to mass support among the voting populace, it is all they have....

"When it comes to Negroes, the whole country's Southern."

2. Love that quote -- how true.
Today's Republicans are simply doing what yesterday's Democrats did from Reconstruction until the Civil Rights era. Back then, the Democrats were the Southern party and New England was solidly Republican. The Democrats and Republicans reversed roles, thanks to the Southern Strategy. Race baiting has always gotten the votes in the South, so they have to keep it up. That's where their base is. They're boxing themselves in a corner and most don't even realize it.
