A march on Wall Street should be organized
Screw marching on Washington.

Our representatives don't seem to be listening.

Anyone got any experience on organizing a March?

1. Actually that would not be a bad idea. Do they have more or less security there?

3. Ain't gonna happen. The 60's wouldn't have been the 60's if the internet
was around.

People vent on their keyboards, not in the streets.

4. Bad idea. NYPD will beat the hell out of everybody while in full riot gear
Meanwhile, if it was a bunch of Teabaggers marching on Columbia University (a bastion of socialist liberalism according to those teabag crazies), hell, half the cops would take off their riot gear and march with them.

6. Tell me about it...I'm from Pittsburgh
And most of the cops that went nuts during the G-20 weren't even from Pittsburgh. Some of the out-of-towners were NYPD...which makes me think a march on Wall Street would be a horrible idea.

The police, like so many other parts of this country and its government, are in the hands of the corporate elite.

7. can you just imagine what would've happened if some protestor

was openly carrying a gun, in the same way as wingnuts were brandishing their guns at the Obama town hall events??

they would've been probably shot on the spot. the hypocrisy is astonishing.

19. That's exactly what they want: us to be too frightened to leave our homes and protest.
If you think the Internet trumps marching in the streets, think again. Your Internet connection is controlled by some media conglomeration, more than likely. They can choose to block site access at any time, to shut down servers during high traffic times if they like (citing "maintenance" or whatever) if the masses start organizing online in numbers that actually threaten the corporate powers that be, etc., etc. Even if you have your own server, other corporations control the delivery systems, the phone/cable/fiber-optic lines.

In contrast, when people saw the police in the South using dogs and fire hoses against peaceful protesters in the South, it turned the tide in the Civil Rights movement. When citizens witnessed Kent State students getting killed during peaceful protests, it turned the tide of public opinion on Vietnam. When people read about the Ludlow Massacre and the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, it turned the tide in favor of labor early in the 20th century.

I understand you personally fear for your safety--that's normal and sane--but to let it immobilize you from action against injustice is playing into the oppressors' hands, becoming thier puppet through complicity.

9. Why would NYPD march with teabaggers? Makes no sense.
Teabaggers don't like unions.

12. Cops ALWAYS see themselves as a breed apart.
They aren't real good on solidarity but of course everyone backs them or gets hammered.

This is a pretty clear starting target. Time for these bastards to face the music. They haven't yet.

11. When should we march?
What's a good date? Preferably in the spring so we're not up against bad weather.

13. Would New York give a permit for such a thing?
It would likely be dangerous to march without one.

It would probably be smart to team up with some unions, in any case.

14. Shit, there ought to be like a 10 million person march that trashes the place
That's a real message that has never been stated in our national discourse. The moneychangers never pay people either destroy their own shit or meekly yelling at clouds hoping that someone listens and responds.

16. Start a rumor that Wall Street & the Government will be handing out $100 bills...
The Teabaggers will be the first ones to crash into the barricades.

Sacrifice their alleged "grassroots" in the first assault on Wall Street, then steamroll them.

18. Because it is their "spiritual" home and iconic of the whole moneychanger world.
Corporate HQ's are spread all over creation but Wall St is their heart. From their it is off to K Street.

20. I'm with you racking my brain right now.
I thought Move-on, pretty good at organizing things. But it is too polarizing. Has to be something
that will get both sides to join. It will take ALL of us.
